So I'm recently engaged and am in a need of a black shoe for the wedding (I'll most likely be wearing a charcoal suit). Should I go Alden 907 or 932? Leaning towards the 907.

Third option is the Allen Edmond Park Ave, but would prefer the Alden I think.

I haven't seen many pictures of whiskey NST shoes in this thread. Anyone own this style, or have any opinions on it?

Look at the FAQ in my signature, and see the category:
"Cordovan: A Photo Gallery of Some of Mac's Shoes"

There are a few photos of this style.

My vote is for the 907.

Preferably danite or commando sole. Not even going to be picky about whether its calf or shell!

Dude, Alden does not use dainite. That is British Rubb(ish)er.

J.Gilbert is where you want to go. They specialize in the Plaza.

If you fit in the Park Ave, go with that; just as good for a simple black balmoral and can be had for half the price. But both have multiple fit (wide) options.

Yeah for a standard black dress shoe for a wedding I wouldn't bother with Alden unless you really have cash to burn, or you'll use it on a daily basis afterwards.

I've tried on both the AE Park Avenue and the Alden 907.  Yes, I like Alden. But in this case I wasn't blown away by the Hampton last.  You can put a nice shine on the AEs and they'll good.  But, obviously, you have to be happy with the shoes.

Its your wedding, you wear whatever shoes make you happy.

I prefer Kent Wang's balmorals over Aldens

I also recommend Kent Wang's shoes if you need a plain balmoral. I have the brown captoes and they're a great pair, especially considering the price.

^ This.

I wore my Black Plain Toe boots with commando sole (gasp!) for my wedding...it was an outdoor wedding and reception so it seemed...and.was- appropriate.

..and I looked pretty darn dapper if I do not say so myself smile.gif - ...and brushing them too much helped me direct my nervous energy in the hours preceding.

How do Kent Wang's size compared to Aldens?
