Does the alden leather get stinky after a while wearing sockless? My cavnas shoes I go sockless are smelly.

I never truly go sockless, but instead use "no show" loafer socks.

I can almost guarantee that's not going to come out.  You can darken the rest of the leather to match though.

Basically any leather shoe could have smell issues if you wear them sockless - particularly heavier, lined shoes (like the normal LHS)

I throw Gold Bond in loafers or shoes I go sockless in. Works pretty well for me.

Pitch Blend would darken the rest of the leather, not get the stain out

With continued wear, the colors will basically blend together. If it were cordovan, I would say it would be more of a negative issue, but with natural CXL, different coloration seems to be par for the course

it is "natural" in that they came like that, but it looks the factory dripped some sort of finishing on them by accident. it does look more like a stain, than a bloom...correct?

i don't mind natural discoloration, but this just looks human

You should have each of those shell colors in each one of those models! nod[1].gif

 

In all seriousness though, if you could only have one of each, I would go with the ravello LWB, cigar PTB, and the color 8 LHS.  However, you could probably go with any combination with the options you've laid out and still be in great shape.  I just happened to be a lover of the king of the gunboats...

The ravello LWB would be my first choice for my first Alden shell, but that's just me.

is it common for Leffot to credit back pre-order money without an explanation? I received an email earlier saying they credited me back from the Natty CXL Indy preorder I jumped on last summer. kinda bummed, was looking forward to them.

This is hard - and it depends on your existing collection.

LWB - cigar or ravello (a virtual toss-up)

PTB - color 8 (and from BB if you can get it) - and, yes, I realize color 8 wasn't one of your listed options biggrin.gif

If you're 11.5 Barrie, Shoe Mart had three pair of the J Crew #8 cap boot on the seconds shelf today...looked good. Also a beautiful chromexcel wingtip blucher, and a #8 plain toe on the Modified. Ask for Bob.
