I imagine LS gets quite a few emails.  Sometimes I get a reply right away.  Sometimes, not for a few days.  But it's never been anything urgent.  If you're trying to lock up a pair of shoes, definitely call.  However, LSBH is staffed mainly by Bryan and sometimes Joel is there (primarily to relieve Bryan I think).  If they have customers in the store, they may not answer the phone.

I find slip-ons - by their very design - inherently casual (sometimes business casual, of course, but casual nonetheless).
Traditional rules of fashion dictate that slip-ons (tassels, full strap, LHS, etc.) not be worn with suits. While I do not follow all traditional rules of fashion, this rule I do adhere to. Others don't, and I can respect that. fistbump.gif

I can identify with both your and Uncle's position.  As Uncle mentioned, you see a lot of tassels with suits in the NY metro area, particularly from a certain demographic.  As you mentioned, tradition dictates balmores with suits, and that is what I would wear if I were going on a job interview, as it is considered more formal.  However, if I were comfortable in my position, and if it conformed to company culture, I would not hesitate to wear a loafer with suit, be it a Gucci horse bit, LHS, tassel or other.

FWIW, I've been told that the Balmores with suit rule is adhered to more closely in Europe, and that loafers with a suit is considered "very American".

I also understand what you mean when you say that you are not comfortable doing it personally.  There are many clothing combinations that are considered acceptable that I am personally not comfortable doing. (Red pants w. #8 for example)

I would be in if I didn't already own a pair of 404s - good luck, it sounds like a great makeup

Thanks for the info. I guessed that they might get quite a few mails, however since they explicitly put on their website to contact them via mail for stock inquiries and orders, I thought it might be the best way. Besides, I am living in Europe and the time difference is about 11 hrs at the moment, so a mail is much more convenient for me. Well, I will try to call them tomorrow, hoping that they ship internationally and still have a pair in my size left wink.gif. If not... well, I have two business trips coming up in February to LA and NYC, so there'll be enough opportunities to buy other pairs.

Thanks again,

DBate

I agree with Seven here. No slip-ons with a suit. Then again, my flat feet w/orthotics don't afford me the opportunity to enjoy any slip on shoes, so I guess its a moot point for me.

I see from today's postings that its a good day for Ravello. That being said, it is also a good day for her cousin, Miss Lady #4.

Have you tried an E width in Aberdeen?

Does anybody here have a list of upcoming releases from Leather Soul?

Does anyone know of any available (pre-order is okay too) shell styles at Alden NY besides these? In particular, that site does not list any cigar, ravello, or whiskey, but I know they must have it.

Alden NY removed all of its rare cordovan from its website recently. Best way to deal with them is simply to call or visit

Alden NY/Madison Ave had a significant number of exotic color shell models on it's site as recently as this fall. Since then they seem to have taken down everything that isn't color #8 or black.

If you have some idea of what you want, you should just call them. On the other hand they do seem to have some unusual makeups that you might not even know to ask after, and there I'm not sure what to advise. Maybe they can provide a list.

Or, tricky, websites/pages tend to be archived, I think, so someone here might be able to explain to you how to find the pages even though they're not currently up. Not really my field of expertise, but I don't think I'm making this up.

Good luck.

Edit: I should type less. Seems like someone has always already answered these questions by the time I finish. smile.gif

Congratulations. This is from Alden Madison Ave? Out of interest do they have a closed heel or a 360 degree welt? And photos, of course.
