Hey guys, just recently found this forum and wanted to say hello. Love that this exists! My current Alden collection is:

#8 Wingtip Barrie Boots full eyelet
Chromexcel Brown Indy's
Suede Longwing - Tan

I am thinking about a pair of chukkas next and having a very tough time deciding between Ravello and Cigar. I do have a pair of Leffot natural chromexcel loafers so I do have some light color as well wink.gif I know the likely response will be personal preference....but any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Are these on the Grant? How do you size these compared to your other lasts? I tried these on last week and they seemed a little tight in the toe box, went with Barrie Jcrew instead

Who likes the commando sole on the color 8 LWB?  Alden of Carmel sells them and I'm seriously considering buying them.

Great choices. I have about 6 RL cable knit cashmere sweaters myself. Black tassel loafers are on my list

Thank you, Sir!

Variation of last night's outfit.  (I know I'm plain, boring and monotonous)

Cigar LHS, Cigar 35mm Belt w. Nickel Buckle, Navy BB Plain Front Flannel Slacks, Grey RL Cashmere Cable Crew. (Sorry for the poor lighting and flash color distortion)

Sweater is a bit darker than it appears.  I need to get some fancier socks if I want to play in this league.

Edit:  Here is a pic of a darker grey sweater that with the flash looks like the true color of the lighter grey that I have on.

^This one is actually charcoal, to give you an idea of the degree that the camera lightens it.

Stop using flash from a point and shoot or phone:) take a picture by a window or natural light instead.

I'm looking for something sleek enough to wear with a suit yet casual enough to wear with jeans. Also, this will be my first shell purchase.
Current collection:
Dark brown 913
Burgundy calf 683
Black pebble Longwing on Truflare(Grandfathers from the 80's)
J. Crew Indy
I view this thread daily and really am having a tough time deciding what my next best option may be. I know the decision is ultimately up to me and my tastes but I was hoping to get some feedback from the community.
Considering:
#8 longwing(actually would consider any color other than black)
#8 J. Crew cap
#8 Shoemart cap
#8 Sherman brothers cap
Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciate!! Replies with pictures never hurt anyone either!

#8 LWB, if I could have only one pair of Aldens, this one would be it.

I agree with this, with the only addition that maybe I would go for 974 balmoral instead of the #8 LWB.  The blucher doesn't go as well with a suit, IMHO, which makes the 974 slightly more versatile.  But, really, you can't go wrong.

Its night time, and the incandescent lighting in the house tints everything orange/pink.

From your list, the color 8 LWB for sure. But probably even before that - particularly given your intended uses - I would go with the Alden for BB PTB in color 8. It may be the single most versatile shoe Alden makes. nod[1].gif

So very true. Every time I lace up the speedhooks on my J. Crew #8 cap toe boots I consider replacing the damn speed hooks with eyelets.
