Exactly. I don't think I would buy Carminas to wear with jeans. Not that you couldn't. Just not the look I'm going for.

does anyone have any info on how this differs from the van last?
edit: here are some side by side images.
TOM last

van last:

Unionmade also used to list models as being on the "New Hampton" last. I inquired of Alden about said last. There is no such thing as a New Hampton last.

A person who cares enough may wish to contact Alden directly about the supposed Tom last.

Whiskey offerings:
PTB
Chukka
WT Bal

It wasn't that long ago that Alden SF had no whiskey offerings .....

That was my thought. I could not imagine how happy I would be if you could get a high instep loafer from Alden here in the states.

Looking great Uncle - monks have been becoming more and more appealing to me over the last year. Might be time to invest...

this also looks narrower in the toe box than the van last. can you confirm how this fits compared to the van last?

For those who own them, what are your thoughts on cigar chukkas vs. color 8 chukkas?

Thanks.

Both are great. When considering each model's utility, I would suggest, for the most part, thinking of the same two colors in a PTB.

I view cigar and color 8 as Alden's most versatile colors (I have the cigar, not the color 8 chukka). The cigar chukka could be viewed as more casual due to the light edge trim on the sole. Both will go with a variety of outfits (jeans to khakis to slacks). Can't go wrong with either. Get whichever color you have less of... Or if its equal get cigar as it is rarer (color 8 chukkas are generally always available)

Thanks for the insight, but as much as I love the ptb's, and admire how they look on others, I have found myself often passing them over when picking out my shoes for the day. I prefer my LHS for work and boots outside of work.

Thanks for your thoughts. I recently purchased some whiskey chukkas (my first Alden chukkas) and really like the fit and look. I intend to wear them mostly in casual settings. I ended up ordering both colors and plan on returning one pair.

Anyone here with good fit shots of color 8 and cigar chukkas?
