Guys, I believe this information may be useful so I am following my original post with an update here. After a few e-mails back and forth, I sent the shoes back to Alden. This a.m. I received a call from a customer service person at Alden and he told me they should have no trouble recrafting the color back to the original. They are going to charge me $50.00 for the recrafting. In the past, I have had less than compelling experiences with Alden's customer service but I have to say I was really pleased with the phone call and the approach. I will follow up with pictures once I have them back.

Thanks for the update. My experiences with CS at the Alden factory have been good. They take forever for a standard restoration - but they are very up front about their timetable - so I can't fault them for that.

That was the suprising thing, the shoes arrived the 24th and they called me this a.m. and told me I would have them in my hands next week. I certainly have no compliants there.

How do you guys go about finding early info on what boots/shoes are being released?

 

Im looking for a plain toe black cordovan boot.. something like the black pitt boot from leathersoul or the milkman boot that was released last year.

 

is there a way to find out if anyone is releasing a boot similar to this soon or its just the luck of the draw and checking leathersoul and other sites often.

Think it's about time to clean up my natural CXL plain toe boot; been getting a lot of wear in the last six months. Any tips on cleaning them off before applying some shoe care products?

 

Also, I've been meaning to ask, but anyone know where to pick up either Venetian or Reno in the LA/OC area? I'm familiar with the online retailer offerings, but since I don't need to pick up anything else at the moment, I'm getting killed by the shipping costs. Thanks, gents.

cant help with any LA stores, but you can get various Saphir products from maxtonmen with free shipping, no minimum

They are well-aged no doubt; however, i have plenty of well-aged color 8 models that don't have cigar hues. But certainly some do ...
