Yeah, don't often see pricing like that. I got the light brown LWB and the Indy boots but the Indys are going back. Right side of right boot has a horrible piece of leather for the upper, just really bad. I know CXL is sometimes inconsistent and a little wrinkly looking or whatever...but this is as bad as I've ever seen it after just 1 wear. Longwings are great though, love the color and the leather and construction on this pair seems almost perfect (slightly askew stitch or two but that is all).

I was surprised to see the dark edge trim (brown, not black) when my Alden DC ravello LWB showed up at my home.  I felt the same way at first and quickly changed my mind.  Couldn't be happier with the darker edge.  It's dressier and much more versatile, imho.  I thanked God as well...

I had to sell my old ravello longwings because the natural or light edge trim blended into the shoe too much for my taste. I like that effect with whiskey, less so with ravello.

I like both and have both on different ravellos models. If my arm was twisted, and had to pick just one, I think I'd go dark.

Antique/lighter edging is easily converted to dark edging - either on your own, or by a competent cobbler. Going from darker to ligher is more tricky, but still possible as well.

Apologies if i misinformed anyone. My ravello lwb is from alden sf (as is my ravello ptb from alden sf) and both have dark edging. Apparently they have changed their makeups

Question:  Do you feel that having a Black Shell shoe or boot is necessary if one has #8 in the stable?

Honestly, I really covet the black shell cap toes from BB. I have no idea why-I am not sure anyone needs black shell. For some reason, for me, they are like the average looking girl you can't stop staring at. (Yes. I am thinking of getting help.)

Necessary, no. But, sometimes I like the look of a black shell PTB with denim. The biggest problem is that once you have a black, calfskin shoe that is as boring as can be and only mildly comfortable, you'll wish it were shell.

I have them. They are great.
