Stop, Teger. If it bothers you then please, by all means, don't use it. You are being way too sensitive here. Its Mac's way and it is harmless. This is generally one of the most pleasant and least controversial threads on SF.

Which last has a narrower/smaller heel? The barrie or the trubalance?

Got the tobacco lwb from J. Crew today, they are going back. Color seems like it wants to be orange but is not fully there and it's not really a brown neither. Plus my student who always comments on my shoes that I get in said these felt like "cheap leather" butbut.gif compared to the other shoes I've gotten before. It's not cheap but color to me definitely looks off.
Color on mine is pretty close to this photo:

The Barrie and the Truebalance are both pretty big all around.  Without measuring, my impression is that the Barrie is a bit smaller.

2nd cousins and other family members, I got a question. I mostly have AE shoes and have no idea how Alden shoes fit in general. I'm fairly close to buying the Alden Shell cap toe boot, color #8. Does anyone have any personal experience to whether it runs long or short, wide or narrow. Is it true to size?

I'm usually in a weird position, I normally wear 13 D, but my AE's in 13 are slightly too big (but still comfortable and not too much of a problem, I just double sock) and the 12's are, of course, slightly too small. As expected, many shoe models don't have a 12.5.

Thanks

Cous' you will like Alden.  Which shell cap toe are you considering?  Can you provide a link? Or do you know which last it is on?

It's saying on that page that it's a Grant last. Also, any idea why all Alden shoes aren't on the actual Alden official site, but they happen to all be on the Shoemart site?

The Alden website lists the "standard" shoes.  These are the models that Alden routinely stocks.  The other models you see on The Shoe Mart and elsehwere are make ups that are requested by the vendor.  Hence, the selection will vary from vendor to vendor.

I have not tried any Grant last shoes; so I don't think I can be of any more assistance.

Try looking at the Alden FAQ here:

yeah, i tried tts length & down a width for a chukka. might have been ok after break in, but felt too narrow at the forefoot so i didn't risk it.

also, the heel cup on the barrie is not only wide, it is relatively shallow. maybe I should try the modified last. http://mouldedshoe.tumblr.com/post/24474857091/alden-barrie-last-and-modified-last-measurements

Thank you for that! From the comparison, the modified last actually sounds way more attractive to me than the barrie last. The slimmer, and deeper heel sounds amazing!
