Indoor vs. Outdoor, does look different.

Those look great. Looking forward to getting mine today. Out of curiosity, what size do you wear?

Your credit card will be charged now.  I purchased the Cap Toe back in October and had to pay back then.  They just arrived last week.

If it helps, I have the tobacco LWB.  It looks more orange-like than anything else.  It was a great first Alden purchase, but I wish in retrospect I had gone immediately with the Ravello or even whiskey shell LWB.

^Yes, looking online my J Crew purchase from earlier today is pending on my credit card. Means it should go through now.

On another note, I wonder that J Crew doesn't have some analytics that show them where there's an unusual spike in activity in their inventory. One might think they'd want to know if Alden sales have increased dramatically all of a sudden. Maybe they are doing something right, or maybe there's something funny going on such as this sale code that maybe shouldn't work. Of course, they may figure this out this evening, I suppose. In the meantime it seems like a lot of people here got that rare thing, Aldens on sale.

Yea, but if it rains on shell or you get caught in a down pour, yur going to look like an ass because you spent 700 on a pair of shoes that can get wet. Granted I have shell boot and I woun't dare wear them when its wet out... I have the J gilbert and have been caught in the rain and no little bumps or issues.

That is the one of the only reasons all my aldens aren't shell.

Every Alden fan should have at least one calf model on commando or waterloc. nod[1].gif

I wear all my shell in all conditions with no reservations. the only thing I pay attention to is the sole (prefer commando/dainite/crepe in wet/winter)

There had to be a spike earlier today, and perhaps even still. biggrin.gif

This is one of the first times I am hearing this... I heard most complain of bumps forming and swelling coming from issues of wet and rainy conditions....

Can more confirm this. Are there certain process that need to take place, spray etc.

Cordovan boots are designed for all weather...

"Shell cordovan is also my material of choice for rainy day footwear. Some men worry that harsh elements will ruin their “precious” shell cordovans, but it’s important to remember that one of the material’s main advantages is its toughness. You can walk through hail, rain, sleet, or snow in these things and your feet will stay bone dry. Yes, this may cause the leather to rise a bit in some places, but you can smoothen it out by rubbing it with a deer bone (or simply the curved side of a metal spoon), and giving it a vigorous brushing. If you wish, you can also help protect the leather by applying a bit of wax polish once or twice a year (any more and shell cordovan won’t shine up well). "

^ Leather Defender prevents most issues arising with getting shell wet.  I use it liberally and often.  In fact, I use it when cleaning my shoes as a dampening agent for my cloth in step one of the Mac Method.
