I have not been lucky in finding a good fit on the aberdeen last so I have been reluctant to go with the full straps or the tassels. Plus my lovely wife has threatened me with great bodily harm if I ever attempt to wear tassels - she absolutely despises them (mostly because her father wears them).

the aberdeen last is the most difficult last that alden uses. if it does not work for you then you have good reason to avoid the tassel

Thanks Uncle.

Here's a better picture, post-brushing tonight. The lighting is unfortunately low, but the color is much closer to their true color.

I love the tassel but struggle with the Aberdden -- perhaps someday we shall see a shell tassel on another last.

Nope. Got our first dusting over the weekend, but nothing stuck. It's coming, though.

I'm sorry, I can't wait. I need ravello! All these pictures are driving me crazy! I'm on the Alden DC wait list for chukkas, but could be eight months. The world could end! Anyone know who is selling LWBs in 7.5D? AoC has one, but with crepe soles.

My 10:

Cigar tankers

#4 captoe boots

black PTBs

Cigar LWBs

Ravello LWBs

Context Roy boots

Whiskey chukkas

Whiskey NSTs

Ravello LHS

#8 LHS

That has not been my experience at all. I really like the Aberdeen. I find the Leydon last miserable in comparison. But we all have different feet ...

Went into Unionmade thinking that I had my mind set on the Ravello Cap toe (after waiting for months) but picked these up instead...

Pebble Grain Chukka with Commando Sole

Someone out there is enjoying the 9D Ravello that I gave up. I actually find myself wearing the Alden Chukka models more than the boots.

Newb question! I'm looking at the J Crew #8 cap toe boots ($645) or the #8 cap toes from The Shoe Mart ($677). Is the main difference (other than the lasts) the fact that one is all eyelets and the other is eyelets and speedhooks? In the pictures the J Crew version looks "squattier" though it might just be the angle, are both boots the same height? This will be my first shell boot and I'm just trying to pick between the two. Thanks icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

I know what you mean the picture from J Crew makes the Boot look a lot different than TSM. However I have the WT Color #8 Boot from TSM and the Cap Toe Color #8 from J Crew and both boots are the same size.

It's just the picture, nothing more nothing less.
