Never done it, but my local guy tells me he can do MTO with Alden for cost of shoe + $150 special makeup fee (Alden's fee not his). PM me if you want details.

thank you

Good thing there are no 9s, because I would have a hard time not copping. But I shouldn't because that scotch color (whiskey?) is too similar to my tan C&J Pembrokes. I need shell longwings in #8 or something else that's less similar.

^ I'll take 'em! $275 sound good? Awesome. Really looking forward to these. I love a good deal

I certainly hope I didn't offend you with my offer to buy your used Marlows for $275.

I know you bought then for $339- new on sale (I know because I purchased a pair Marlows for the same price that were too small). The ones you have for sale appeared to have been both used and altered. I thought $275 was a fair opening offer. Apparently you don't.

The Indy boot looks great - the stitching does not look at all bad, very understated. What make of dressing do you use on these? Thanks...

Thank you. The stitching did not start out like that. It was quite bright white, but after several months of wear, tear, and care it began to fade. Letting it wear like that is part of the appeal for me.

My care procedure is as follows: Apply a small amount of Alden Neutral Boot Cream regularly -- minimum twice a month. Rub in, let sit, and shine. When a high shine is desired, I follow the boot cream with Venetian Shoe Cream (which I did above), rub in, and brush vigorously. That's all Chromexcel needs to look good. I don't polish, as mentioned. About once a winter, I apply Montana Pitch-Blend to weatherize the shoes. That does take away from Chromexcel's ability to shine up well, but it's worth the weather protection, obviously.

For shell, I do something similar, except sub in Saphir Renovateur for the boot cream above, and omit the Montana Pitch-Blend. To protect your shells from weather, the Madison Ave store sells something called Cordovan Protector, but I haven't tried it. I find that a post-wear Mac method gets all the water spots out of my shells anyway.

Hope this helps. Was that clear?

For all of those looking for Flat waxed laces, call Alden directly. I left them a voicemail this morning and a lovely woman called me back and is sending them out today. I asked for 3 pairs and asked how much and she said usually $3/pair, but waived this. (Some people want a dozen.)

I went to J. Crew once and they gave a single lace to me, went back and got shut down (100% reasonable, as I didn't buy my boots there); and another store in town simply didn't know what I was talking about because they hire incompetent sales people. (I've gone to this particular store several times and they have continually let me down with their knowledge and attitude.)

New natural indys from Leffot. Unsure about them. Might send back and wait for upcoming shell indy releases.

These look good. Non-shell indies look great over time and are some of the more comfortable boots you can own.

Pardon me, but do we know one another? Because you seem to think we do. Can you also tell me what I had for breakfast this morning?

No I don't know what you had for breakfast, but I remember this post from the RRL thread on 11/3/11:

^ sucks bro. But then again, it's a nice thing to have to settle for filson. Btw, I called rl and they adjusted the loafer price from 400 to the current 300. I had ordered the penny and tassel earlier this week. Additionally, the CS rep said they don't adjust sales prices but would make a one time exception.
