Nothing whatsoever embarrassing about that. Consider the Alden for BB version PTB too.

Weird he gives me the shade always as well when asked. Maybe I just word my emails properly

Given his exchange-only policy, this leaves you choosing the mystery door on every purchase and living with them even if they're not what you were looking for. I believe this to be unacceptable service for a $700 pair of shoes.

that doesn't sound like a simple question to me. simple questions:

what last is it on?
what kind of sole does it have?
what color shell is it? (#8, #4, ravello, etc)

not-simple questions:
what hue of cigar is it?
how will i feel when i put them on?

seriously, what do you expect his answer to your "hue" question to be? seriously, give me three to five possible answers to your "hue of a cigar longwing" question.

if you're asking that kind of question, i'm not surprised he gave you the cold shoulder. buy locally if you need your longwings to be a particular hue of cigar.

+1, though when I asked:

Also what Ravello tone is the AF70 shoe?

I got:

The AF70 we have in stock is a little more brown and a little less red than the pictures on our website.

Works for me but maybe not others.

Finally got a picture. I've worn these (4) times. Would this be disconcerting to anyone else?

Follow-up: if I contact Alden, do I contact the home-office or the dealer I went through (Yenni/Seattle)?

I love the Barrie, but a #4 captoe boot on the Plaza would be incredible.,,,

BB PTB in black shell were my first Aldens icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

The exposed eyelets and flat welt set them apart from the standard PTB.

Got any pics?  Also, where do I buy?  I just searched BrooksBrothers.com for Alden and got nothing.

My small Alden footwear wardrobe.

The black suede's are my oldest pair at eleven years old, with the brown's being ten.
