I think they look great (though I would probably prefer them with a plain toe.) I just left a message at the store asking what last they are on. I'll edit this if / when I find out.

they are on the barrie last, but they have no half sizes, and i am a 10.5d oh well

The shop in San Francisco is now carrying the indy shoe. I prefer the boots myself, but they are now in stock if people are looking for them.

They also have NST'shoes in cigar and whisky that looked super nice. Will call later about the possibility of custom order tanker boots.

Hey guys, Just want to present our newest Alden make-up - the "Black and Tan" Indy Boot. The upper is a matte-finish "Pegasus" leather, and it's got a smooth look with no contrast stitching. Images and shop text are below. It's leather lined, on the Tru-Balance last, and has the Indy sole. They're $450, and we've 18 pieces. I took a few fit pics on a freezing cold beach too. If you've ever looked for a Black Indy, these are some of the nicest that I've ever seen.

Black and Tan Indy Boot: $450 We're thrilled to present our newest special-edition Alden boot - the "Black and Tan" Indy. Inspired by the colors of that smooth blend of Bass Ale and Guinness stout, these are some of the most handsome and comfortable Aldens that we've ever seen. With a self-colored moc toe stitch and a medium brown welt, they compliment jeans, trousers, and chinos wonderfully. The whimsically-named leather that we selected is called "Pegasus." Produced by Chicago's Horween tannery, Pegasus is a thick, matte finished cowhide that's extremely soft but also tough as nails. It's colored with full aniline dye - a transparent organic compound which allows the beautiful natural grain of the leather to shine through and yields an exceptionally soft and breathable skin. Its weight makes it a practical cold-weather boot, but its breathable nature means that you can easily wear it for nearly the entire year. And you'll surely want to - these feel ridiculously comfortable from the first second that you put them on.

I'm lookng for a pair of Burgundy/oxblood shortwing bluchers. This Alden x Blackbird is perfect and exactly what I'm looking for... http://www.blackbirdballard.com/Alde...ing_15293.html ...but They don't ship until May/June, and if I change my mind there is no option for a refund. Is there a similar shoe by Alden or any other brand worth looking into?

I didnt think the price on the shortwings I posted was too bad (for Aldens, anyway). My 966s were $410 directly from Alden, and the ones from Blackbird are $423 with the SF discount.

Im small-time though, so I dont want to gamble that $423 on something I cant return.

I probably won't ever buy a black indy but those black and tans look very nice.

I just caved in and ordered the Roy boot from Context. I went back and forth for a while and had a hard time getting anyone who owns the boot to post their pics. WTF? I wanted to see how they wear with normal wear--not just the infamous 'beaten to hell for 30 days straight' pics that always come up on internet searches. It's hard to lay down cash knowing I won't see these boots until May, but they fit too many of my shoe/boot needs to pass up: rich dark brown, plain toe (I don't need more moc toes), comfortable sole, and the chromexcel leather--which I've admired and longed to try for a while. I hope I like them.

And...I will post wear pics.

This happened to me as well, 2x, on my Alden Aviator Boots from Orvis. In this case sent both back and got replacement quickly - 3rd time a charm. Love the Orvis service. The boots fit great, are super comfy, and I get complements when wearing them just about everywhere I go.
