Thank you P-D and 7fold for your feedback.  7fold, why did you get rid of the NST, if you don't mind me asking?

I have the nst on Aberdeen in color 8. I would snatch up a pair in cigar on the Barrie in a heartbeat. The nst looks so awesome and is quite versatile, and I happen to like very much the way the Barrie fits.

I think this post might have been missed while under moderation. Nice shoes! Where are they from?

I have a pair of natural CXL LWBs that I want to strip back to the base and re-oil/grease.

I know natural CXL is supposed to develop a worn patina over time, but these have been "over-smeared" with grease/neatsfoot oil and the built up layers are quite dirty in places.

Is is possible to strip away as much of the surface layers as possible and re-oil? When I run my nail over the leather, you can see the original color below.

I dont want to go overly harsh on them - any thoughts?

I dont really think you'll be able to "strip" that shoe of the oil. It's a stuffed leather, the fibers of the hide are impregnated with oils and fats.
I'd use Saphir Reno' and a good brushing to remove any buildup.

my $0.02

11EE cigar captoe from Alden DC arrived last night (ups delivered at 945pm) and it's too narrow. I'm an 11E on the Barrie and Trubalance, but 11EE Grant is still too narrow. It wasn't even my left pinky tow pressed up against the side, but the next toe in...

damn, because they're nice.

Acknowledge, it's a stuffed leather - but at the moment a little too stuffed biggrin.gif

I'll try the reno and a stiff brush - see if that helps. May post some before and afters.

I'd consider dropping out but it's a nice boot at a decent price and I have a 10% discount on them so I'm going to hang in there.

After receiving the above disappointing news, got notice that my credit card was charged by J.Crew. So instead of having to wait till Feb, I should be getting the #8 pct boots in a few days! biggrin.gif

It looks like all sizes of this boot are now in stock so a shipment must have come in, for anyone else that was waiting...

Can anyone recommend a Metro Boston cobbler? Looking to fit new soles on an old pair of PTBs while my wife wants her Trickers dyed a darker color. Thanks in advance!

If you can't find anyone, send them to Nick and B. Nelson.
