Received a pair of CXL Wingtips purchased over on B&S. They were supposed to be only worn a few times, and have just a couple of scuff marks (which were documented and photographed).

But what I wasn't expecting was this wrinkled mess on the outside of the left shoe. Anyone know if this is fixable?

By comparison, here's the outside of the right boot:

Otherwise a nice pair of boots, but none of my other CXL boots have wrinkled like this, so I'm concerned that these are defective.

Any tips appreciated.

Others might want to chime in but I don't think there's any way to remove those wrinkles.  Some CXL leather is just prone to more wrinkling than others.  Not sure if it's the original condition of the leather or something to do with the tanning process.  I don't think it means the boots are defective.  I have CXL boots where one side of the vamp is much more wrinkled than the other.   What I'm seeing on your boot wouldn't bother me personally as I think it just adds some character and "lived-in-ness".  I prefer my boots that way but I think I lean towards the casual/work boot side of the spectrum more so than the rest of those on these threads.   And I know others have posted how they despise CXL precisely because of this wrinkling.  I almost think that's why I like CXL so much.

While some insist it is the #8 LWB, I contend that the #8 LHS is the quintessential Alden.

I'm surprised that they aren't concerned about the sun fading the pigment.

I think many would agree with you. I'm definitely considering a pair.

They might not be as natural as whiskey, ravello, or cigar when worn sockless with shorts, if that is a consideration for some.

Beautiful... those four models may be the standard for the Alden rotation.  Tough to exclude the tassel moc though.

well, I'm going to buy my first pair of Alden Indy shoes from TSM... I went to a specialty clothier here in town and tried on the 11's... .way too small... my normal sneaker size is a 12. I am wondering if I should order the 11.5D or the 12D, as I see with the Indy sole they tend to run a 1/2 size large...

typically half size down from normal dress shoe sz

Not to hate on either but a lot of it depends on preference. I never wear loafers, so LHS is not every considered when I'm wearing / buying shoes. Thought about either a cigar or C&J for RL one but passed a few times. Then I also don't like #8 and I'm probably a good bit younger than most posters here (22)

Standard CXL, this is not defective in any way. Previous wearer could have had his feet bent a direction, packed shoes tightly in box, or a multitude of other ways. You pant hem covers most of it and CXL is casual so I wouldn't worry about it.
