While some insist it is the #8 LWB, I contend that the #8 LHS is the quintessential Alden.

I'm surprised that they aren't concerned about the sun fading the pigment.

I think many would agree with you. I'm definitely considering a pair.

They might not be as natural as whiskey, ravello, or cigar when worn sockless with shorts, if that is a consideration for some.

Beautiful... those four models may be the standard for the Alden rotation.  Tough to exclude the tassel moc though.

well, I'm going to buy my first pair of Alden Indy shoes from TSM... I went to a specialty clothier here in town and tried on the 11's... .way too small... my normal sneaker size is a 12. I am wondering if I should order the 11.5D or the 12D, as I see with the Indy sole they tend to run a 1/2 size large...

typically half size down from normal dress shoe sz

Not to hate on either but a lot of it depends on preference. I never wear loafers, so LHS is not every considered when I'm wearing / buying shoes. Thought about either a cigar or C&J for RL one but passed a few times. Then I also don't like #8 and I'm probably a good bit younger than most posters here (22)

But what I wasn't expecting was this wrinkled mess on the outside of the left shoe. Anyone know if this is fixable? Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

By comparison, here's the outside of the right boot:

Otherwise a nice pair of boots, but none of my other CXL boots have wrinkled like this, so I'm concerned that these are defective.
Any tips appreciated.

Standard CXL, this is not defective in any way. Previous wearer could have had his feet bent a direction, packed shoes tightly in box, or a multitude of other ways. You pant hem covers most of it and CXL is casual so I wouldn't worry about it.

you already ordered a pair of these, but are now asking how the aberdeen fits? see here

J Crew must've noticed that the latest sale code worked on a couple pairs of their Aldens. When you click on them, it redirects you to the home screen. Since neither pair was expected to ship until 12/4, it'll be interesting to see if they cancel my order.

Tried the pen trick today, creasing actually came out really nice although it's on a pair of captoe boots, so not sure if it woulda creased the same anyways Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Mixed feelings on this almost grail boot for me (speedhooks vs all eyelets). Just seems a bit too blobbly compared to wingtips. Commando sole is nice though and they will be getting a lot of wear, just wish it was more dressy

Great creasing! yeah, captoes always seem to crease well...until you get a nagging crease in the cap...annoying.
