The Modified last is awesome.  My Modified NSTs are at Alden for repair.  Otherwise I'd post another photo.

10.5D LS CXL Jumpers (new in box) will be going up on B&S as soon as I get around to taking photos.

Renton - very nice collection! I especially like the saddles - where did you get those and are they still available?

I got them from J. Gilbert and even though they look great, I don't find myself wearing them that often. They'll probably be making a trip to b & s soon.

A lot of handsome shoes, Renton.  I especially like the snuff wingtip boots.  Was that a Leather Soul make-up?

That they were.

Very nice C&J for RL Wingtips Uncle. Thought for a second they were the Edward Green brown crup WT that Leather Soul had a while back but the RL WT is lovely.

Can't get the RL WT in my territory but am expecting delivery this week of it's cousin, the ready to wear C&J Pembroke made on the same last but in tan grain calf on a dainite sole.

Perfect for wet Northern European pavements!

can someone explain the modified last?

Bit the bullet on the JCrew captoe boots yesterday. We all know what they look like but I'm still excited enough to post a picture biggrin.gif.

Looks stunning, uncle. My pair unfortunately doesn't fit me as well, I should have sized down a half.

Anyone interested in a pair of 9D RL Marlows? Should be a good fit if you are 9.5D, I also put Topys on them.

I prefer the Modified last (boots only - I think the shoes are not that attractive) given my prescribed orthotics and the unbeatable comfort. That and the only other Alden lasts I can pretty much wear with my orthotics are the Aberdeen, Grant, and Hampton.

The Modified is essentially an oversized last with a snug waist and arch which gently support the foot in a balanced position in weight bearing. The broad toe offers unrestricted toe room along the inner border as well as along the third, fourth and fifth toes. The short backpart holds the foot in firm control even with prescribed corrections.
The Modified Last is used in fittings where a high arch or contracted foot type is found. There is ample room to accommodate plantar inserts where prescribed. The Modified Last may be used for pronated foot shapes, particularly flexible feet which will respond to prescribed correction. Remember that the Modified Last carries heavy ribbed right and left flanged shanks... Right and left heels... Counters slightly extended on the inside.
Alden's Modified is an effective last for delivering a new standard of all day comfort, offering welcome relief to those who suffer foot stress, fatigue, and pain.

I guess because it's video and not pictures? Just take the compliment.

Looks like we are the same size. I haven't tried on the Marlow wingtips, but I think general consensus in the Crockett & Jones for RL thread says to size down a half from your normal "U.S." size.
