Is the BB version single layer sole or double like the alden version? Any other possible differences?

1. double
2. the last is different; BB is Snap; factory version is Aberdeen; both are TTS

There are some visual differences, even if slight. Go to the BB website and Shoemart website and compare. The BB version of this shoe just returned to BB online about 3-4 weeks ago. It had been gone for a number of months. The BB version in color 8 is one of my favorite dress shoes.

The detailing on the back of the shoe gives it away. It is the factory version on the Aberdeen.

I don't see the blucher cap toe anymore on the BB site when I filter on cordovan.

Don't filter on cordovan. That has happened to me before as well. Go to all shoes and locate it - price is 650.

Good man. Sorting by price works since they're all $650.

Ahh--I see it now. Little details! Thanks for the info!
Do you notice a little more room in the shoe withe the Snap vs. Aberdeen last? I have a couple of Aberdeen's but no Snaps.

though i'm not speaking expressly about cordovan. i would never own a cordovan dress shoe. i think the shine is tacky/cheap looking in a formal setting. IMO, calf looks far more elegant on a proper black balmoral.
there are also far better constructed shoes than alden, i own 5 pairs of alden's, 2 john lobb's, 1 church's, and two crockett's. far and away, they are all constructed more precisely and to a higher standard than alden. of my 5 alden's... 3 have had factory damage. one a tear in the brogueing, loose threads, gaps in the heel tap, etc. i don't love them any less, for the stuff they are good at, they are the best... custom make ups, boots, etc.
on the flip, no boot looks as good as a sleek cordovan boot. cordovan looks fantastic on a penny (LHS) or nearly any loafer for that matter.

you've either never owned a good shell cordovan shoe or you're ignorant. on everything else i agree with 100% biggrin.gif
