Thank you, I couldn't be happier. A boot would be great, but for my style, I prefer the blucher as I rarely find myself wearing boots.

What's Barrie last sizing like? Tts?

For me down .5 size and 1 width.  9.5D TTS, 9C Barrie

 

I have done what most people recommend --- go down 1/2 size.  It worked perfectly for me.  I stayed with the same TTS width.

Most go half size down

As someone who has tried on numerous cordovans at Alden NYC and Leffot, sometimes creasing can't be avoided when trying them on. Some buyers will care, some won't (I lean towards the don't care camp)

True, and I'd agree to some extent that I was a bit extreme in my response. But if you really want to try sizing out, why not order calf or suede so you can actually walk a bit. I know sizing is a bit different between different materials but you can minimize the creasing. And trying on in store is a little different, as the SA may give you a pair that others tried on before, or can supervise it. I've had stores give me 25% off for the slightest of creasing on cordovan and I didn't ask for it

I've always wondered how salespeople deal with this in store, since I imagine that in person, the idea of not being able to walk around in the shoes to assess fit would reveal its ridiculousness. I sympathize though with people who want no evidence of try on on their new shoes, and I try to be gentle. Those who really care should make sure to work with no crease policy retailers IMO.

Got these today. Not my first Alden shoes but my first Alden LWBs. I think these are more than just shoes.
