(formal relative to a LHS/penny)

Thought maybe the higher vamp tassels would be a good trade. But tassels?

I am not generally a loafer kind of guy but I scored a great deal on a pair of ravello tassel loafers on eBay this summer. They look great sitting in my closet but I have yet to actually wear them. Maybe I'll break them out tomorrow...

However, I would not hesitate to rock those blue suede tassel loafers that the Mexicutioner posted up.

What other options are out there for captoe shell Alden boots in color 8?  I'm aware of JCrew, any others?

Relieved this happened. Have been kicking myself for not getting in this preorder. Condolences to those we were in it

Call Kathy at Alden of DC. I got my #8 Captoe (and Cigar as well) boots on Grant last with commando sole from her.

Like others posted, all have captoe boots. SkyValet also has some and european retailers get them every once in a while (Frans Boon, shoes&shirts, Bureau, TBS, etc)

LHS  Whiskey 9D
LWB Whiskey 9D
BB LHS Unlined 9D
C&J for Ralph Lauren Marlow 9D (US)
C&J for Ralph Lauren Marlow Shortwing 9.5D (US) a little loose
C&J for Ralph Lauren Tassel similar to the Arberden last 8.5D pretty tight
C&J for Ralph Lauren PTB (beautiful PTB) 9.5D great fit

Mine arrived yesterday, also in 9.5D. I was able to get in on the 25% off sale. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

you sure the heel slip won't go away once the sole is broken in?

Nice boots, particularly the brown. I personally don't do blue shoes or boots, but many on here do. To each their own. Unionmade usually has a few nice offerings.

I'm not a big fan of straps and buckles on my shoes and boots those brown monk strap chukkas are pretty cool.

only possible exception i'd make on alden loafers would be these blue suede tassels, but i wonder if they'd look too feminine:

those are the exact ones that i have. they're definitely on the side of dandy, but they are amazing. definitely not any every day shoe. not by any stretch.

Beautiful day here in New England. Except on my campus, they decide to water the sidewalks.

Doesn't bode well for my leather soles

They are pretty well broken in. It has decreased but is still bothersome in the right shoe, even with a tongue pad. Left is okay (left foot is slightly bigger). Sizing down a half size cured the heel slip but the narrow Aberdeen toe box pinched the crap out of my toes in the shorter length. Sizing down and going wider was too loose in both shoes. A shame as I really like that loafer style (full strap).

Thanks for all the responses everyone. I like the tassels but a little on the fence as they just seem a little dressier than the full strap.

^^also, the main culprit, as discussed on here before, is the relatively wide heel in the Aberdeen last. It's a little disproportional given the narrow toe box.

How about a #8 or cigar, plain or cap toe high boot? Not quite as versatile, or would you rank it alongside the chukka?

i don't ever see myself rocking the george boot, but there is something about that make up that is pretty appealing.

would love to see pics in the wild when they surface
