So I got my Whiskey Longwings back today from Alden. I got them earlier this year and they were 2 toned, so Alden told me to send them back.

Reminder: this is what they used to look like:

The left shoe was clearly 2 different colors. Alden sent them back to me "refinished." I have absolutely no idea what color the shoes are now

For comparison purposes, here are the refinished "whiskey" longwings next to a whiskey indy and ravello chukka

So at first I had a pair of whiskey longwings where the left shoe was 2 shades of orange. Now I have no idea what I have.

It looks like they just dyed them a darker color to cover up the inconsistency of the whiskey shell.

yup. I think thats exactly what they did. The new color isn't bad imo, but I you wanted WHISKEY longwings, I'd be pissed....

I kind of like that new color better although I'd definitly be pissed if you wanted the lighter whiskey color.

They're too small for me anyway, so I was going to sell them. I don't know what to do now. These are a completely different shoe than what I paid for.

I wear a snug 10D in the Hampton. Would a 10D in the Trubalance be too roomy or should I be able to get away with it?

I'm exactly the same, a snug 10D in the Hampton and a 10D in the Barrie and Trubalance. I say go for the 10.

You seriously wear them laced like that? I think those are too small for you...

+1. They're not sneakers. The only pair that I even lace loosely is a pair of pebble grains, which I suspect the material is thicker, thus making the shoes less roomier than other materials. But even then, it's not as loosely tied as yours.

the indy is a work boot, so yes absolutely you can wear white athletic socks.
