I'm pretty sure the shell shoes run like... 900 bucks up here. It's also very difficult to use the snap last for sizing comparison, though, as my understanding is that it runs much shorter and narrower than the Hampton, so if I have to order in it's a bit of snafu. I think I'll talk to the BB people this afternoon.

I am TTS 9.5D.
Snap - 9.5D
Hampton - 9.5D

My Alden for BB is 9.5D. The Snap last is slightly more snug than the Hampton, but, IMO, not enough to vary from TTS. I also have the Hampton-lasted color 8 shell captoe bal (straight tip) from TSM in 9.5D.

How about we modify the question to: Whiskey, Ravello (light and dark, if you distinguish), Cigar, #8, or Black LWB? Rank or just give favorite.

1. Color 8 - by far the most versatile and the patina is awesome!

2. Ravello (dark)

3. Black

4. Cigar (I don't like mine much bc they're too light; hoping to darken them up some)

5. Whiskey (I don't own a pair bc I'm not sure I would wear them much)

1. cigar

In general, or for the LWB specifically?

In general. I will caveat that by saying I've never actually owned whiskey.

I like whiskey, but it'll be a long time before I own a pair in it (if I ever do). In whiskey, I think I like:
  • PTB
  • LHS
  • chukka

For the beverage, I like it neat or in an old fashioned, manhattan, sazerac, or mint julep. smile.gif

Mine is a cigar wingtip boot, barrie last, brass eyelets with no speed hooks, double waterlock sole with flat welt.

Ravello 4 eye dover PTB with a single water lock sole. Barrie, close heel welt. 360 welt could work too.

Considering picking up a pair of brown chromexcel lwb.....any thoughts on verstility, durability, etc?

PSA: I heard from Yenni at JGilbert today. The color 8 NST boots on the Plaza have been produced and are slated to ship yet this week from Alden to JGilbert. This probably puts them at JGilbert the end of next week and in our respective homes the end of the following week. So ......... barring something unforeseen, there is an end in sight, even if a month or so late. biggrin.gif
