I know it's frustrating. I'm sorry, but I did try and they didn't show up

The first time you posted photos (presumably with the photo option), they worked for me

Good to know. Appreciate the feedback.

I'm generally inclined to agree, but thought maybe my pair was peculiar or defective. Ultimately you're right, though.

I lol'ed. Still curious your thought process on trying to create blue chukkahs instead of buying them outright. Purely for experimentation/fun? Seems like something I'd attempt, too.

In other news, still waiting on my #8 Tankers from Yenni. I paid the balance off as requested several weeks ago as supposed anticipated ship was approaching. Followed-up via email later and was told there was a delay from Alden, with tentative ship dates. Shot out another email yesterday morning inquiring for updates, and radio static. I know, pick up the phone, right? I fear I'll be too aggravated when I'm told verbally some more supposed-to, maybe, possibly, non-committal bullshit response; especially aggravated I've paid-in-full a month ago, per vendor request, for an item yet to be delivered and zero communication on expected delivery. If it wasn't for you guys vouching, I feel like any ordinary person would feel like they've been scammed.

I find this level of customer service for $710 shoes offensive.

I don't know how you guys have the patience for this.

Is this commonplace with most MTO offerings?

With special make-ups in the rare shades, you are at the whim of Alden. Timelines are always tentative, and delivery is based on shell supply and production ability. This is not J. Gilbert's fault, and you will find generally the same issues at all the stores. Trust me, the dealers are probably more frustrated than you are because they have 24 cutomers per order who are pissed about the same thing.

Same thing happened to me with my cigar indy's. told they were 3-4 weeks away and needed to pay off the balance. 4 weeks go by, nothing. emailed yenni after 5 weeks--told Alden had told them they ran out of commando soles and were waiting for re-supply. how does that happen? oh yeah, it's alden. about 9 weeks after paying off balance i got the boots. they are awesome but you definitely have to be prepared to wait and possibly jerked around a bit (not by J. Gilbert, by Alden). alden, in most ways, seems to be operated as if it is still the 1950's. they completely shut down for two weeks every july--who does that nowadays?

At least it's not a non-refundable deposit for a make-up that's still an estimated 1-2 years away... ahem ravello boots plain.gif

How do you guys address stains on lighter colored shell, particularly whiskey? Wearing whiskey chukkas to NYC bars and such results in a spot or two.

I think you are good to go. I'm looking for the thumb to line up with or be slightly forward from the area where you begin to see the welt on the toebox (from the top down angle) - the widest part of the shoe.

What do you guys think of the NST on the Aberdeen, for example these ravello ones from Shoe Mart:
