These are excellent. A #8 perf cap toe is probably what I would get if I needed another balmoral. It would be awesome if Alden made a few balmoral boot styles.

Thanks for the reply. I couldn't agree more about the balmoral boot; why do the boots have to be bluchers? I'd be all over a balmoral boot in shell cordovan - #8 and cigar for the minimum.

they look great

The jcrew captoe boot is their most impressive offering. For me it be a no brainer

I was thinking the chukka would be more versatile, but until it gets a killer patina it may be a little "boring".
The captoe is already awesome and will probably only become more so.

I think the punch cap adds a unique (dressy?) touch to a casual footwear. And for some reason, even though its on the Barrie last, it looks sleeker than other Barrie lasted boots. Havent seen a pic of that boot I didnt like

Totally, and I think it's the lack of a 360 welt makes it so much sleeker than what we're used to

@fredmill where are the jeans from? Fit?

The JCrew cap toe boot is the right choice, by a wide margin.

Those look great. Beautiful photos of them. How's the fit looking?

^ I like the low profile on the toe on those...not bulbous at all

The metal eyelets don't ruin it at all. Great purchase!

I have the captoe boot on the grant and the chukka boot on the barrie. The patina is about the same, with a slight edge to the chukka. My boots, however, are so different (style and last), that any comparison is apples to oranges. My captoe boot is far dressier. What you plan to wear them with should play a large part in your decision.

Wow, these are the shit and have changed my mind on the eyelets (I was among those who said they did not like them).
