Dang, I want this boot with just a plain leather sole.  I live in the desert.  The J Crew version cap toe doesn't have storm welting I believe, cool shoe but kinda minimal that way.  Pass ... any suggestions ?

AoC has a similar make-up sans reverse storm welt, broguing at the heel, and eyelets... could always send them to B. Nelson to have eyelets installed, but the other two not so much.

I see this all the time on websites that don't know what they're talking about....funny, because I never would have noticed it a couple years ago. That's what SF does to you!

Our beloved Alden shoe company also use the term Oxford for some Blucher models in their official printed catalog. In fact the 990 was referred as the Cordovan Plain Toe Blucher Oxford. Blucher and Oxford at the same time. Interesting.

Gents:

In the last few days there has been some back and forth about shell v. calf on the AE thread. I added a comment or two about it. biggrin.gif Below I am reproducing a post I made over on that thread earlier today. I would highly recommend each shoe pictured, particularly if your dress is of the business professional variety.

This is not to revive the shell v. calf topic, but I thought the following link (picture) was apropos in demonstrating the shine each gets:

I have both the shoes pictured, albeit on the Hampton Last, and not the Plaza. So the comparison is one I know from personal experience.

A good Friday to one and all.

No affiliation with them, but another good looking shoe from Unionmade. Really like their offerings.
