Standard caveat is that these are $700+, so perhaps you want to wait to get a size you know is right for you.
Bottom line, my opinion is that 8.5E could work for you. It all depends on how committed you are to making it work.

Thanks so much for the advice guys!  I think I'll hold off.  The 8.5D was available two nights ago, but was sold out by the time I was ready to pull the trigger.  I've wanted the Color 8 Chukkas for awhile, so I think I'll try an 8.5D and see how it goes before being tempted by another pre-order. :)

Thanks Again!!

^ #8 Chukkas are a classic. I always love those when I see them posted here. None in my closet yet, but that's because they're always out there... waiting for me... smile.gif

Thanks HorseHide!  I saw that page a few days ago, but there weren't any sizes available in the pulldown so I figured it was an old page.  I'll call them and see what's what. Thanks again!

It may sound weird but I use a small spoon on my shells.

I rub the rounded face till it gets hot (you can feel it with your thumb). Immediately after, I energetically brush the shoe. Again and again.

At the time I took these pictures, I only used the spoon on the left shoe (the right one when I wear it). The spoon may have the same effect on shell than does a deer bone (which I never used).

This is probably why the left shoe (see its point on the picture below) appears darker than the right one. They have an "hybrid color" between ravello and whiskey that I like.

1000

Now that both of them have been treated the same way, the difference is less noticeable.

Albeit, color variations still remain.

Back to work in Alden of DC #8 captoe boots with commando sole after vacationing in the hot & humid Northeast. Even had a chance to stop by ShoeMart but no purchases this time around.

Thanks Marmottan.  What size spoon do you use, tea size, sugar size?  I guess it brings the natural oils of the cordovan to the surface hence the darkening of the color and lighter vamp areas.  Very cool idea indeed, thanks for sharing.

Good point! Just the (Alden) whiskey this morning; (Scotch) whisky is more of an evening thing for me.
