Many have, there's even a thread about it. The tricky part is that you can't recolor the top of the welt. If you can live with that, you can do the edges now and change the welt when you resole somewhere down the line.

The solution to that sloppy feel is to have a third eyelet added to the chukka as I have done to all mine: Color 8, Black, Cigar, & Whiskey (all shell cordovan).

Not a chip as per say, more than likely, this is the joint/ joining of the opposite ends of the welt.

Snuff Suede Chukkas for casual Friday....love these boots, they mold to your feet throughout the day and actually get more comfortable the more you are on your feet:

anyone seen the j crew x alden suede indies with red soles in any of the physical stores?

 

recall seeing one of the members spotting the in the NYC men's store, but haven't seen them pop up online as yet
