Ordered these yesterday from TSM.  They're on the Barrie last.  It's my experiment to see if the Barrie last will work for me.  I've got a pair of natural CXL boots on the Modified last and they fit me really well.  Also have a pair of Indy 405's on the Trubalance which I bought impetuously and they don't fit me well so I'm going to have to unload them.  I'm hoping the Barrie will work for me as it seems there is a lot more variety out there to choose from in the Barrie, especially in shell.

I really like how the Modified last fits but am not too crazy about how some of the boots look on that last on the Moulded Shoe site.  The cap toes on the ML make the toe cap seem way too small and the boot looks kind of bulbous.  For some reason, the suede boots (wingtip and cap toe) on the ML look sleeker and not bulbous as the ones in calf or shell.  Go figure.

I'm interested if anyone has gone through a similar experience with these lasts.

Allow me to share my humble experience: I just purchased my first pair of boots in modifed last and here's a comparison of me wearing a CXL chukka in Barrie last:

and me wearing PCT boots in modified last:

The PCT boots in modified last actually felt more like my Leydon chukka than my trubalance indy.

Really nice boots. So nice that I checked Epaulet to see if they had any more. Size 12D is all that's left.

I'm a 41 in common projects, I plan on buying a pair of LWB, should I buy size 8 or 8.5?

I wear mine with denim a lot. I've found that a washed or broken in pair if jeans look A LOT better than a crisp, raw pair. As for leg opening i never go more than 8 1/4. I find any more than that and you tend to hide the charm of the LHS under pantleg.

(Not a great pic or with "ballin" denim but you get the idea)

Ravello PTB's in natural light at 6:15am this morning. Interesting shade comes out in this light.

Wow nice...looking good!

You're right, in that light it almost has the shade of aged AE burgundy shell...

Thanks for sharing and welcome. Both your chukkas and boots are looking good. Interesting that you have a variety of lasts and haven't stuck to one or two. Since you have at least two pairs of the modified, how do you like the fit of the Indy?

Do any of you shell LHS (Van Last) owners also own the C&J for Ralph lauren Marlow Shell Penny Loafer? Did you take the same size in each? Thanks in advance.

What's the deal with J Crew? Since they don't sell these in their shops, is someone in their warehouse trying them on or something?

I'm really digging the boots though, Barrie last in a boot seems to work really well.

They're almost certainly a return.

J Crew does sell color 8 captoes (along some other models not listed on the website, such as a color 8 captoe blucher) in select stores
