i ask my cobbler to resole my indys with a crepe sole, he told me that this should be no problem. but he hasnt a black crepe sole, according to him alden painted them black, but i cant believe this. he is a official alden cobbler.

Ask your cobbler to check with his supplier. To me genuine crepe is available in natural and a color referred to as "brack". That's the color Alden used in your photo. It's a blend of black and brown. The larger supply houses carry it.

Cool looking saddle.
I'd like to see a version of it with a white mid (slip) sole, red Dainite outer-sole, natural colored leather heel base and, red dainite top-lift.

Nick V, could you replace a single waterlock sole on an Alden suede PTB with a red brick sole? Similarly, do you have the "waterlock" sole in stock if I wanted to resole with a similar material as the original?

+1.  Amazing how the color changes in different light. One of the beauties of shell.  btw, what kind of welting do you call what's on those shoes?  It's not just "normal" storm welting, is it?

Those are beautiful. Every time I see a pair of cigar LWB I wish it was not going to be so long until the ones I ordered from Epaulet would be ready. Hopefully under 2 years.

LOL! also, i think it is just a storm welt, just natural edge trim so the welt is light as well.
