Remember that the Ravello PTBs at Alden SF have the dark welting/edge trim (less attractive than antique IMO)

Are those medium width AE chukkas?

I have ravellos with antique trim and ravellos with darker trim. I like them both, but if forced to choose between the two, I would choose the darker trim. But it's all personal taste ...

Yes they are. I tried the E width first but they were huge on my feet. The D width fit almost perfect.

Those AE look very nice.  How would you compare, qual, fit, etc to Alden?   I know those were a special edition, so they may have stepped it up a notch.

They are very nice and I believe the quality to be on par with the Alden shell models I own (5 pairs). I also have the AE Dalton (wingtip boot) in Walnut shell and those are also very nice and compared with my Ravello Wingtip boots they are very similar. The AE's actually are a little more comfortable. Both of these AE makeups were special order so maybe the quality is a little higher than standard AE. I love my Aldens but if the prices keep going up and AE keeps offering different colors of shell then I have no problem buying AE's. I also have no problem buying Carmina from Epaulet and can't wait to order the Navy Shell brogue that's about to go on pre-order.

I really do love my Aldens and they get more wear than anything else (I have on my Cigar Indys today biggrin.gif). Since Jan of 2011 i've bought 8 pair of Aldens but the rarer shells are topping out over $700 (and I paid $712 for the Cigar Indys) and even at that they are becoming difficult to obtain with almost instant sell-outs of special order make-ups.

Those look really nice. I'd have to try on the modified last before I could purchase something like those.

Just wanted to relay a good experience: Stopped by the Moulded Shoe yesterday in NYC on 39th to look at the Modified Last. I have a very flat foot so wasn't sure if this last would do me well.

Ron spent a good deal of time with me explaining how the last is shaped, who its meant for, and how it might work for my foot.

Surprisingly, even without my orthotic insert, the last was very comfy and provided very good support in the arch.

There were no shoes/boots that I was a huge fan of, but I would definitely consider this last in the future.
If you're in the NYC area, I'd recommend a visit to see if this last could do you well.
