Thanks!

1: I at times have a problem with this (but not always). For me, it doesn't happen all the time but when the hook does catch it is irritating (I notice most when I try to sit). I've had a hook cause my cuff to go undone twice (which is not too often but it is still annoying).

2: I wear the commando soles when it's rainy and business casual. I don't work in an extremely conservative specialty or work environment so it's not an issue. However, my preference is to wear balmorals during most of the work days.

The boot that started it all for me--1.5 year old Indy 403s after a good brushing.

1) It can snag, but I dont find that it ruins pants legs or anything

2) I tend to avoid it with suits in business dress, with the exception of rainy days (when I generally wear a PTB on crepe anyway). With business casual, it is fine (I work in a suit four day a week, business casual Friday environment). I will wear my cigar captoe boots on commando soles with flannels/chinos in the fall/winter with business casual. I dont recall ever wearing them with suit (though i suppose they could work with tweed suits). If you have to wear suits, there are better suited Alden shoes (balmorals, longwings, PTBs, tassels, shortwings, and chukkas) than high boots on a commando sole.

Caveat here - if you are wearing suits casually, high boots can work well

Just my two cents.

Suede Indy boots (milkshake, tan, navy) on any sole with a seersucker suit would be stunning

Good call, totally forgot about that. They would look killer; that's what happens when you make blanket statements. shog[1].gif

^ Thanks for the great input everyone!

On another note, I'm now heading to the hospital for the (scheduled) birth of my first child, a baby girl.  If I ever have a son, I just might name him Alden.  My choice of footwear today?  Ravello PTB, maiden voyage as well :)

I got those years ago. I used to stand all day on a trading floor and they were very comfortable. Standing all day in leather soles can be a killer on the feet!! But that's me....IMG_2382.JPG
