yup, code unfortunately doesn't work for Alden this time around....I wonder if future codes will also explicitly exclude Alden.

They should be a little snug. The 1494 will loosen up after a few wears.

I just wanted to jump in to tell all how much I hate you. After reading through this thread, I realized my meager selection of three pairs of Aldens was not nearly enough. Add to that the NRO sale, and the going out of business sale at Tom Austin

I have now addes color 8 PTBs and Alden 403s to the collection.

Thank you for the inspiration and info.

in your experience, do they stretch out a half size? I'm a true 12.5, but NRO doesn't stock that size, so I went down to 12 but they feel like they're going to be too tight, even if they stretch a little.

How does burnished tan calf compare vs shell colors? Is it similar to ravello or color 4 or something entirely different?

And if I may tack another question on to that, how does burnished tan calf compare with cognac? Is burnished tan the same as cognac?

Alden of Carmel lists these as "burnished tan (cognac)".

By any chance, is anyone interested in a trade. I have a pair of Cordovan 8 balmoral wingtips that are about a half size too big (they're 8.5D). I'd like to trade them for the same shoe, but in size 8D, or maybe some PTB or something. Anyway, if anyone is interested, shoot me a PM.

edit: would also be willing to trade for calfskin. does not need to be cordovan.
