Checked with my local cobbler re: adding brass eyelets. He doesn't have the machine and mentioned something about the shoe having to be lined AFTER eyelets are installed. I'll give BNelson a call, but looks like its a no go, so I'll be posting my Cigar LWB in 9d if anyone's interested. Just too many Cigar shoes...

Alden brand shoe trees are nice, but not needed versus $10. ones you can get at places like Nordstrom Rack.

Or you could also wait for a 3 for 1 from Jos.A.Bank.  $26 for three sets of shoe trees.  And they're nice trees.

ehh wouldn't say they are nice since they are not split toe. I've got a set the past few sales but probably wouldn't buy again

I would hold out for the natural or brown if that is what you want. The price is not that big of a deal a year from now and you will probably end up with the ones you want anyway.

PS: I love my brown CXL.

I would like to try it but it is a little expensive when I have more Reno than I need and I have no local source for either. frown.gif

I can get neetsfoot oil at home depot.

On the LWB, LHS, Indy boot & anything on the Plaza last I prefer to use split toe shoe tree as the vamp is lower & the width is adjustable. On all other models I use the full toe shoe tree. I find that the full toe shoe tree is especially useful on the chukka to minimize creasing on the vamp between wears. My own experience has thought me that both types of trees serve a useful purpose depending on the last used to shape the shoe or boot.

i believe it's number 4.

It's always funny to me how much i prefer the PTB in the "dover" pattern (the outer #4 and #8 ptb in this case) versus the traditional PTB blucher. To me it just adds another dimension and balance to the shoe.

I wish more alden retailers used the dover...

Definitely understandable.  But for me, $26 vs. $95 is a no-brainer.  If you have more disposable income, I definitely understand going straight for the Alden trees.

Uncle,
Are you THAT coordinated that the leaf on the deck matches your socks, or is that just a coincidence?

Great looking boots!
