Being an Alden fan tests your self restraint... As an owner of Cigar captoe boots, PTBs and longwings, I don't need the brixton boot, but it is so tempting...

Could pick up a pair of black indy seconds but been on the fence. Too many shell boots and numerous other boots from other makers. I also want to pick up NAT CXL and brown CXL!

Noob question here: do I need alden shoe trees for alden shoes? I'm looking at this little kit from oakstreet bootmakers and the price is right, but it's not alden.

Alden brand shoe trees are nice, but not needed versus $10. ones you can get at places like Nordstrom Rack.

I purchased both the other week and they equally get the job done fairly well from a shine perspective. The differences for me are:
1. The Venetian is cheaper
2. The Venetian has a looser more liquidy consistency than the Reno which is a solid cream.
3. The Venetian has a distinctive chemical smell. While the Reno has a unique odor as well, it is more pleasing to me than the Venetian which I cannot stand.

I decided to use the Reno and set the Venetian aside due to the smell and the fact that it is easier for me to apply the Reno in small quantities on my shoes. I don't mind that one is much cheaper than the other.

I'm pretty sure the ones Oak Street have as a kit are the same as the Alden ones. I think they are both made by Woodlore.

I get all of mine from Harry Rosen mens store, here in Toronto.
