Yes, this is the nerdy kind of thing I do.
It does seem like there's one person in England who writes all of the inner markings on Tricker's, C&J, and Grenson shoes.

Thanks for the info. Only had one pair of Grensons before and they felt super cheap (Tom's I think the model was?). The build quality seemed better on the lwbs. How's the quality on your pair?

Also is grenson just one line as well on the inside? Tricker's handwriting is similar but they have a few lines right?

How often do group MTO batches get made by Alden? Is it basically just a bunch of guys on SF that get together and put in an agreed upon order?

I'm still waiting for my first MTO.  Mr. Chorizo, any update?

Grenson quality runs from pretty crappy to not bad at all.
I've got a couple pairs of Rag & Bone X Grensons that aren't bad at all. The BBBFs seem to be a bit better made than the R&Bs.
I'm happy with the pairs I have.

No argument here ( I didn't see the previous posts) and  no hard feelings, despite the bruised and bloodied throat.  blush.gif

barring that I was offered a full refund, but I would feel like a shit having the retailer take the loss. can i expect him to take every pair outside into the sunshine. I think not.
they have been really good to me too in other ways; I can't justify seeing them take the loss.
i can however justify Alden taking the loss and I am still considering this. the retailer seemed to think that alden wouldn't do anything but said he would contact the rep and see what he thinks. we took a picture, so i am curious to see how this plays out.
i am sure that if i call alden and express my dissatisfaction they would do something.

I got the same feedback from Alden via the retailer I worked with (Alden Madison Ave); nothing they could do. Sounds like a lovely boot you have, hope it works out for you. Hope that Uncle Mac is right about getting them re-dyed at the factory. Maybe they will send you back a rich #4 smile.gif

I use Renovateur on mine, wipe off with damp cloth after wearing, brush and then shoe trees. The Renovateur gives them a nice shine without being too much.

These are great prices. I paid $425 for the alpine grain. $400 for cordovan is a no brainer.

The Brooks Brothers Grant last seems to fit better than my other Grant Last as well. smile.gif

+1 on Renovateur. May try Neatsfoot oil.
