I was actually happy to hear that the boots have speed hooks, but I can understand how others on the order might not be. I paid for mine yesterday and am looking forward to them arriving at my door hopefully before the weekend. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

I tried to take some manicure scissors to try and ream out the eyelets and push the sharp parts of the metal down, but it doesn't seem to help. Could a cobbler do anything to fix these, other than replacing the metal rings?

I had the same thing with mine, about half of them had a small metal part that was sticking out on them in the eyelet. I took a small screwdriver and pushed back and forth a time or two on the sharp part that was sticking up and they broke off. I was a little worried at first that it would mess something up, but it appeared it was just extra metal on the eyelet. and the inside is fine and a full circle.

They'll give you a full refund though, right?

What kind of small file did you use, as I imagine it really would have to be small to fit through an eyelet.

Look for "rat tail" file. If you go to the hardware store, in the tool section, you may also find a small kit of mini files. They usually come in a small carrying wallet and are various shapes and sizes. One of those should do the trick.

Tempting, but living in Chicago demands a commando sole (well except for this year; easiest winter I've ever been through). To everyone who grabbed them, let's see some pics when the boots arrive.

Why would it demand a commando sole? I spend $15 per pair on topys that easily make it through a new england winter - granted, I don't particularly go looking for bad areas to slosh around in when there's ice and snow all about.

Just not a fan of topying, even if they nail it on.
