Yes those are terrible for Aldens. If shell is left in there too long it turns to calf.

This is correct. Your boots need to be packed in a box and sent UPS red to my house in Toronto. We have skilled people who can handle this problem for you. I'll take it to them personally

I got a pair and they are definitely NOT Barrie lasted. I bought them in 12D, fits really well and is very comfortable. I have an 11.5D CXL PTB Barrie and it's really wide on my foot; and an 11.5D in two J.Crew boots (chukka and perf-captoe). So I do know how Barrie lasted shoes feel.

If that bump is a problem for you J. Crew has excellent customer service.  I mean EXCELLENT.  I don't see why they wouldn't ship you out another pair so long as you haven't put any wear on the soles.  Give them a call I think you'll find them extremely accommodating.

so I've been told the grant last runs more true to size than other alden lasts, and I wanted to see if I could get some sizing advice:
I have a pair of Ravello brixtons from epaulet, which are on the barrie last for those that don't know, and the fit in a 9d hugs the sides of my feet slightly, not in an uncomfortable way, but almost as though it molded to my foot after a few wears. I know some people say the barrie is roomy but the 9d doesn't feel that way to me at all.
I also noticed that the length is about a quarter inch longer than my other boots, don't know if the barrie last is typically longer like that, but I brought it up to give an idea of how it is.
So, I'm planning on getting the 9.5D in the grant last. good idea?

Something terrible happened today gents. I found out that in a plaza last my size is most accurately an 11 1/2 B. where can I find a color 8 wing tip boot in shell cordovan in an 11 1/2 B?
