interesting question. this has never come up before.

(google the mac method)

I have the color #8 paste wax recommended by Alden, but haven't used it yet.

What I have used: Meltonian delicate shoe cream. That shit does wonders, with a very light application. I was able to turn two fairly dried out pairs of whiskey shells into amazing specimens with a few min of pressure buffing after putting a dab of Meltonian on.

The supposed drawbacks are that the cream/polish will get stuck in the creases/ripples and cause a white buildup. That doesn't happen with the Meltonian delicate cream. Just gotta be sparse with the amount used, and heavy on the pressure while rubbing in.

Sure wish I had some before/after pics of my Rider Boot whiskey shells and Vass whiskey shell ptbs... turned out waaay better than I'd hoped

Also see here.

That's a great price considering you can return them if the defect is noticeable or undesirable.

That's a hard one to call. They might only order up to 11D in a standard run. In that case it seems reasonable.

My guess is it's a way for the retailer to lessen their risk of getting stuck with inventory in case you decide not to purchase.

I like shell, and its ripples, but that looks terrible IMO.

That is just ridiculous.

Do you think it might be possible for you to have just a single post where you don't whine about the Barrie last and how you don't like it and how it destroyed your feet, killed your parents and caused the downfall of Western Civilization? I mean really, WE GET IT, YOU DON'T LIKE THE BARRIE LAST. It works for other people. Let it go dude, let it go.

guys, I'm uk8.5 fitting 6(G) in Tricker's 4497s.  9.5EE in AE.

Need suggestion about Barrier last. Is 9 E ok for me?

BTW, does TSM ship irregulars for shell internationally?

The chukka seems to crease a bit more than other shoes (such as the PTB). I doubt it has much to do with the last, it probably has to do with a combination of a looser chukka fit and the substantial leather. However, the worn photos I have seen from people that use trees seems to indicate it isn't that bad. My whiskey chukkas are looking good after (admittedly) a few wears. The worn chukkas here look pretty good

I also am a Barrie fan. Wearing my barrie LWB now, the shoes are extremely comfortable and well fitting after a year of wear

"the ultimate goal is to never apply wax polish to your shells"

from Mac here:

I apply wax about once a year to my shells personally but try not to any more than that. It's just not needed and can sometimes make them look worse and actually less shiny than just brushing and cloth buffing.

1) Use mac method sparingly (moist cloth, lots of brushing, buffing cloth)
2) Use wax polish sparingly - there is a debate on what this means, I use wax polish a bit more than most (once every five or six weeks) on most of my shells. The more you use wax polish, though, the more you need t brush
3) Keep a conditioning cream (Saphir, Venetian, etc) nearby to deal with dry looking cordovan
