These look better in the wild than the site pictures and that is saying a lot!

I do have a question about a potential problem with these shoes. The top eyelet on the right shoe is missing the metal piece. Is this a big deal? I just got the shoes today and have only tried them on. To me it dosn't seem like a big deal but didn't know if this missing piece would have any negative longterm impact on these shoes. Pics are included.

I would have that handled. But the shoes look great and this is the perfect time of year to have them added to the rotation.

Fantastic. I would love to have these in the rotation.

I have a pair of the Whiskey PTB and did not wear them that much but likethem nore now. They seem to have darkened a little which makes them better. It may be from my shoe brush. Whatever....I like the more now.

I was wondering if someone could help me out.
Today I had the opportunity to try on my first pair of Alden Indy boots, they were these here..
http://store.nomadshop.net/collectio...anilinepullbrn
A few questions if you don't mind.

1. Are these the 403's?
2. I tried on a 10.5, length was great, my big toes was just at the toe stitch and the width was slightly snug... not sure if they will stretch as I wear them?
3. The inside of the boot said 10 1/2 B/D ? What exactly does that mean?

Unfortunately the guys at the store were not much help.
I would like to get a pair but feel I can get them at a better price elsewhere.... any suggestions?

Thanks.

1. Yes
2. Yeah, a little bit in the width, not in length.
3. It's a 10 1/2 D, the B just indicates the heel width or something.

I posted this above, but it bears repeating. You probably want to follow Alden's fitting guidelines: http://www.styleforum.net/showpost.p...ostcount=10893 Specifically: "Try not to depend upon breaking in to loosen up a tight feel. Goodyear welt construction and quality selection of leathers result in a very strong shoe. Try for a size that feels good right from the start."

tx guys. I'm trying to figure out if they would work as formal shoes with a tux. Plain toe bal in black shell which could be polished up very well. Is that crazy ?

Thought this thread might appreciate these photos. Finally got around to photographing my complete "rainbow of shell" in LHS. Yes, it's not a "true" rainbow, since half are Brooks Brothers and half are Alden, but the colors are all there... at least until somebody does a #4 LHS special makeup... Tom, you didn't hear that!

Sorry for the somewhat overcast lighting, but that's what passes for sunlight this time of year, and it's brighter than it has been for awhile, actually.

From left to right: BB black, Alden cigar, BB #8, Alden mahogany, Alden ravello, BB whiskey.
