Where can I find info on the Mac Break in method? I did an advanced search and it only brings me to 1st page of thread. I would not mind, but the threads are 500+ pages... I checked out Mac's site, but does not have any reference to the break in method. Just picked up a pair of #8 chukkas and wanted to reference that...

Agreed. The Leffot natural shell loafers posted down the page are much nicer.

Alden x Leffot Day Tripper in Ravello

That is a Mac-level shine my friend. Beautiful.

Saddly I can't take credit for making them this shiny as I got them like this...hehe I'll make sure to follow the Mac Method when the time comes.

^ They still look great. Wish I could get the exact same boot without speed hooks (in either Ravello or in Cigar). Grant last captoe is amazing.

Great look on those day trippers.

I find that my Alden Shell shines so easily when comparing to the other brands like Allen edmonds and Crockett and Jones. I know the shells all come from Horween, but does Alden add something to the finish?

Advan inspired me to wear my #8 cap toes today

Alden shell does have additional layers of dye. They add some themselves; I don't know if extra is added by Horween, but I do know that many types of Horween shell we know and love -- such as Whiskey, Ravello, and Cigar -- are Alden exclusives.

I know some say those colors are "exclusive" but I've seen them on other makers.

Ron Rider has had whiskey boots. Vass sells cigar shell.

It would make sense if Alden did some factory finishing on their own. But in terms of exclusiveness, I think whiskey is the same as saddle shell that I see with other brands. The names Whiskey and Ravello may be exclusive, but I don't think the actual coloring is.

I think Saddle is different than Whiskey. Whiskey often has his milky color to it. Saddle is just a bit "sharper" to my eye. I dunno could be the same. since no 2 whiskey look identical it's hard to say if whiskey = saddle

I've only seen the saddle cordovan in pictures and it is very similar in color to my whiskey lw's. Also saw the leffot whiskey tankers and they are a darker shade than my longwings.

Shell colors vary based on individual hide coloration. The cigar we've seen recently has been darker than the cigar coming out of Horween/Alden from even a year ago.

Has there ever been a whiskey captoe boot? That's like my dream boot... I would instakop.

Any advice on cleaning up the stitching?

Thrifted these yesterday, Alden Cape Cod Collection, Mocc Oxford in Mahogony. Below is with new laces and creme and polish. There are a couple of loose stitches that need to be addressed.
