Just busting chops - you walk, you scuff the soles. For some reason you are walking in a manner which is wearing down the front end - I don't think this is something that can be blamed on Alden quality control issues.

Thanks to Mac for posting his pics of this makeup. Thanks to all the SF'ers who managed to get Kathy to reissue this makeup. Lastly thanks to Kathy, and the fact that she had my size left in stock. smile.gif

Yer killin' me here! I was on that list, for what, 6 months? Between then and now I bought and remodeled a condo, and right after these came into the store, I got laid off, so no RMCTs for me.

this year anyway

Where did you get these? I have been searching for these exact shoes but no luck.

It's just what happens to some when they walk, but not to others. It's not a fault, it's just the leather sole showing signs of wear. You've got a few options here - you can elect to put a rubber sole over the front half of the leather sole (this could be a Topy, Vibram or other similar product). If doing this, opt for 1.8mm Topy Elysee (the thinnest you'll find in Australia), although internationally I believe they go down to 1mm for men's shoes. You can also choose to have metal or plastic toe taps put on. Metal toe taps have a reputation for scratching hardwood floors and plastic ones are unsightly. If going for toe taps then try a cobbler who will make inlaid toe taps which sit flush with the rest of the sole. As yours are the Pitt Boot in CXL, I'd do nothing. Just walk in them and enjoy them.

Would any of the J. Crew/Alden collabs be worth it at 30% off? I'm seriously contemplating the captoe shell cordovan boots, but $435 is still a lot of money

In general any Jcrew promos don't include the Alden stuff.

Nah, I'm seeing a girl who works at J Crew and apparently Aldens are included in their 30% discount...

Edit: Does anyone have fit pics wearing the shell captoe shoes or a similar pair?

Cheers, thebrownman. I probably just have a strange gait.

Re: J. Crew discount code discussion, I think that J. Crew's officially policy is that you aren't allowed to use discount codes on 3rd-party collabs, but individual sales representatives are able to still give you the discount if they're not in the know, or if they've warmed up to you a bit. I've seen some people saying that they've been able to apply the 30% off to Alden, Belstaff, etc., but a lot of people don't have any such luck. If you call J. Crew up on the phone, they'll definitely say no.

I mean, she gets the standard 30% employee discount, so she'd just order them for me.

Hahaha I think it'd be immoral to exploit her like that, plus they'd get suspicious if she ordered like 20 pairs of Alden's in a month biggrin.gif

lets be rational here. most relationships end within 6 months. 20 pairs of proxied aldens will last 1000 years. your name will live on forever. think about it...

I concur.

Now...in the meantime, I noticed these:

As someone who has worked at Jcrew, employees don't get discounts on any branded items, save a few that pop up on a special discount list (never the alden's). An employee could override the system and put in a discount at the register but it would be against the books and they'd catch it in an audit
