Hi gents,

I'd like to purchase my first pair of Alden's, and wanted some advice from you experts out there:

I'm looking for a pair of shoes/boots that are able to withstand Michigan winters, so I'm most likely looking for a pair of boots that can be worn in the snow (provided that they are well conditioned, of course). I don't do anything especially grueling, but I have to trudge through some snow here and there to get to my classes in the winter, so boots that are able to take some mild water and possibly salt abuse would be best.
The plain 405s just don't really appeal to me, as they look too chunky for the way I dress. I'd like something a little more sleek,

It would also be great if these boots were available to purchase, and not as some sort of special, limited edition make up. I'll get around to those once I've had some experience. redface.gif Anyway, any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, guys!

It always happens. I pull the trigger on one shoe and another one comes along that I want to buy. Must start saving again....

Brass eyelets and Barrie last? No thanks.

I'll stick to the Epaulet Leydon version:

I quite like those actually, the suede makes them quite appealing.

Get the leather soul chromexcel Pitt boot. If you want, get a commando sole put on

Another option is the AF84 Brown wingtip boot from Alden of Carmel on the Barrie last with commando sole...

Looking sharp uncle. Not the usual cobblestone background, but a step up from the carpet.

Just picked these up from the SF Alden Shop:

Crappy pictures, but ravello LWBs. Super pleased -- most comfortable shoes I've ever worn, and so sharp.
