. I think it's pretty stupid to spend full retail on a pair of shoes that may not even work in my favor. Why not spend nearly half price for some brand new shoes to try out? You guys obviously are salesman to get so offended by what I did, but I think it's pretty smart. It's no worst than the members I see, on a daily basis, on here that go into various retail stores to try on high priced items and then buy from b&s, ebay, yoox, or other online retailers at a discount.

You call it classless, I call it smart. I'm done with this conversation as far as I'm concerned because I came here to become educated on quality menswear that will last.

Rationalize it all you want, it's still a dick move.

If you have tried on the shoes in person and know which size to get, and have the run of the mill to select from all of the Alden makeups available online, how could they not work out in your favour?

Isn't that what you do at the brick and mortar store before you buy your Shoemart seconds? Or do you wear those around your house for a couple of weeks and then decide they aren't for you? Seems to me like you're a fickle and cheap bastard.

Lets get back the shoes and not how people come about them. Internet fighting is a waste.

I don't think there is a single person on here who hasn't taken advantage of a sales associate in some form or another. So let's just not worry about our awkward personalities. I mean, we are arguing on an internet message board y'know. Ha.

Does anyone know of any places in Toronto that carry Aldens? I heard that Nomad was going to start but I doubt that will be until next year or so.

I think that Tom guy probably does, he seems pretty obsessed with the place. Are you casing the joint to do some kind of oceans 11 on the stockroom? Count me in, I'll rig up an EMP on my Piaggio and take out all of the Beverly Hills police cars while they're parked in front of Lindsay Lohan's place.

I'm fairly sure that there has been a number of Barrie lasted captoe boots produced at various times. Try to look for those if they're your thing.

I know it isn't the Barrie, but Sherman Brothers makes such a boot on the Grant Last IMO, the captoe looks best on the sleek lasts such as the Aberdeen and Hampton lasts, even though both don't work particularly well for me either. Edit: Never mind. That is the boot.

You should have put this into Tom's Alden contest that just ended. It would have had my vote.
