Recently bought a pair of beautiful black Alden longwings. They turned out to be about a half size too big

wanted to get some more information on them though because the logo inside seems a bit different then most i've seen. i was wondering if any of you alden experts can tell me what last it is on? if its a new or older model? deadstock? vintage? also is there an alden database where i can look up info about the shoe from the serial number inside?

Thanks for the help!

Gorgeous boots and an even more gorgeous day in Cali. My flight back home to Cali is delayed but my Indys served me well in Detroit.

I love the pic of the white pants with Indys that a previous poster showed us. Well done

For a thread with some great pics, the last few pages have been exceptionally great! Question here, today I wore my C&J Pebble Grain (my rain shoe) and I feel like I cheated on my Aldens. LOL. I have the Winn Perry boots in the brown calf. http://shop.winnperry.com/products/a...ck-captoe-boot The leather is so supple and soft, how would they handle a rainy day? I know the soles are made for the wet, but the calf??

I've got a question for ya'll. Which I'm asking in a general thead in Men's Clothing as well. I've got a lighter grey glenplaid Billy Reid suit I want to wear to an event coming up. The pattern is fairly muted, some hues of red. I'd love an excuse to buy some cordovan Aldens. Would a PTB, say cigar or, hell, even whiskey shell work with this? I'd, of course, wear the PTBs often, but I guess I'm looking for an excuse to pull the trigger..... Sorry no pics currently of the suit.

He's wanting to buy his first pair of Alden shoes - probably long wings.

If he's already decided to pull the trigger on a pair, where could he go to get fitted and pick up on the same day? He doesn't have a lot of time to wait. Plus, he's willing to drive. Looking for stores that would have decent selection and size inventory on hand.

Shoe Mart in CT?
Places down in NYC?

thanks!

NorthRiver Outfitters in Boston and other MA locations should do just fine. I got my Chrome Excell Indy's there when everyone else was sold out.

Good call dad. I hadn't even thought of ravello........ Perfect medium between whiskey and cigar. Would chukkas work with a suit? Sorry all, I'm a child/adolescent therapist and don't have many occasions to wear a suit.

^ Some like chukkas with a suit. I don't. The PTBs you were referencing would work well, or some wingtips. Captoes are classic, but IIRC Ravello captoes can be difficult to find on short notice. Where are you located? If you can go into one of the Alden shops in DC, NYC, or San Francisco, you might have a greater selection of the rare cordovans.

Thanks!

Curious about the dealer as well.

Could be Leffot. The ravello captoe boots posted a few pages back are from them, I believe. Even if it's not, Leffot regularly stocks Ravello captoe boots. One of their "regular specials" I believe.

Thanks man. I agree with you on the chukka/suit thing. I'm not the biggest fan of captoes, but what do I know. Wingtips would be nice, although I thought it may be too much with a gp suit? Thoughts? I don't need much coercion to get some wingtips though.

Jhawkmac - they are a modified last Alden, which runs big, most likely from Moulded Shoe, NYC.
