Alden guys, I'd love your opinions on a suede boot primarily for the fall and winter. Which of the following would you recommend for mostly casual wear (denim and chinos) but perhaps a little dressier every now and then?

1) Alden snuff suede chukka boot

2) Alden x Leffot Cooney boot

Or, would you recommend something else? I really like both of these, and they are priced similarly. Also, FWIW, I plan to get the Indy 403 later this fall/winter. Thanks in advance!

I love the snuff suede chukka vastly underrated. A solid staple for sure.

Snuff suede chukka is more of a spring/summer/fall boot. Cooney would work better over the winter.

All,

Just got these in from Jcrew. Looks like these had an issue when they were dyed. Possible to brush this out or do I have to return them?

Thanks,

easy return for me, no question.

if it were a shoe in a rare color or makeup, that might change things

return AND send a note to mickey Drexler. He loves to hear about quality control issues like this. Seriously.

Hate to return these after I had so much trouble trying to get these shoes from Jcrew at 20% discount

First time they sent the wrong pair -

Then I was put on wait list for my size to possibly be returned or show up a B&M store.

One month later I received these.

The only thing rare about these is the crepe sole (was trying to find a comfortable shoe for walking to work in).

Not easy to find this shoe (especially at 20% off).

These had clearly been opened before they were sent to me (they were missing the shoe bags). Which means Jcrew knowingly sent me a defective pair.

The discount will be difficult to replicate but Alden of Carmel has cordovan longwings on commando and Leffot has a color 8 PTB on crepe

J Crew has one of the most liberal return policies, which invariably means they must try to ship off returned / defective products to other customers

should be very easy to get jcrew to honor the discount on a new pair.
