Can B. Nelson change the eyelets to brass?
A follow up to this: Can B nelson, or anyone for that matter, convert exposed metal eyelets to the regular "holed" ones? I have a pair of shoes with the exposed eyelets that could be made more formal if they were to get changed. Thanks.

While Roguls is technically correct (there are other threads to post this pic), I agree with Alcibiades. An occasional pic or discussion on other shell products outside of Alden (shoes, belts, wallets, watch straps, etc...) finds itself welcomed here by many. Even our beloved Uncle has posted pics of his C&J for RL Marlow wingtips. I doubt anyone would call that clownish. +1 No disrespect intended zbix, but I have never heard PTBs referred to as gunboats. The larger perforated holes along the "long wing" resemble the openings for the canons/guns on the sides of old battleships like the famous USS Constitution... I think gunboats are suppose to refer to LWBs. Not sure about Shortwing bluchers, as you do not have that long strip of perforations for the guns. These look like they are armed and ready to do some serious damage!

PTBs looks more like submarines... In any case, it's a nickname. I suppose anyone could use it however they choose.
Rtp, I love your black shell ptbs. Should it be black or color 8 for my ptb purchase? They are both sweet.

Thanks very much RK. I personally use the color 8 more often, but I suppose it may depend on your wardrobe. They are both worth acquiring. Perhaps though, you might consider having one in the stock Alden version, and the other color in the Alden for BB version.

Do what I did Rishi...get both :) its one way you can hide an Alden purchase...ha ha ha...because they look very close to the same to the clor in your closet. (Not so much out in real light.)

If you must get one though...get the #8 - they're beautiful!

On this Labor Day (Labour for our Canadian buddies) it sure is nice to pause and be thankful for all the awesome workers who make these Alden shoes.

I know I'm proud to slip my foot into something made in America every morning.

I too need narrow widths and have requests in various retailers.  Not all retailers accommodate these requests (e.g. Epaulet won't order for  you.).  Alden NYC is very helpful.  They have helped source a plaza captoe in C width for me.  I think so long as the shoe is part of their normal line-up, they would line you up.  Also, they didn't require a deposit, at least for the shoe I requested.  The said that they don't have an issue ordering Cs.  But if it were a B, they may require a deposit since it's harder to sell.  FYI.

right
i am also entertaining another chukka hole- see this:

i wear a size 8.5 D Modified Last - have 4 pairs from moulded. wear a size 9 is most else (quoddy, etc)

i wanted to get a pair of chukkas. sized and got the Alden Leydon Suede Chukka in a 9. felt ok at the store.

wore it at home, at work, the heels are real painful- perhaps slipping?

ideas?

Eyelets are not difficult to install if you want to go DIY or ask your local repairman to handle it.
Ah, cool. I want to put brass eyelets on my Indys when they are due for resole and I'll probably get a commando sole for them when the standard sole wears out.

Interesting...I did go a bit smaller on my shell chukka. Size 8 Barrie and went 7.5 in shell chukka and they have broken in great and fit awesome. I am kind of a tweener fit wise though. Maybe you are getting some slippage. Did you try size 8.5?
