I have a sizing question. If I have a pair of 11.5 carmina Simpson last, would an 11.5 in the unlined chukkas also work?
Thanks for any help.
If you're an 11.5 in UK sizing, I'd assume you'd need about a 12.5US in Leydon, no?

I too need narrow widths and have requests in various retailers. Not all retailers accommodate these requests (e.g. Epaulet won't order for you.). Alden NYC is very helpful. They have helped source a plaza captoe in C width for me. I think so long as the shoe is part of their normal line-up, they would line you up. Also, they didn't require a deposit, at least for the shoe I requested. The said that they don't have an issue ordering Cs. But if it were a B, they may require a deposit since it's harder to sell. FYI.Yeah that's what I was thinking...if it's on the Barrie I would probably go for a B width. Although who knows how long of a wait that would be. I would think being suede and not shell I might get lucky and won't have to wait too long. Maybe they could add my size to an order that's already confirmed for production.
+1, kwhitelaw
is the unlined chukka on the leydon last? if so youre most likely a us12. typically uk11.5 simpson is equivalent to a us12 on the alden leydon (us12.5 if you have a narrow foot)
I take a 12 TTS/11.5 barrie, and tried (unsuccessfully) to squeeze into an 11.5 leydon chukka.. couldnt pull it off so I offloaded them on here.It is. My TTS is usually 12US, but I've found that isn't always the case with dress shoes. The Barrie last shoes at that size are giant, both width and length, and the same goes for carmina shoes in 12US.
I found a really good deal on the unlined leydon chukkas, but they're only in 11.5US.
I too like this idea. I've seen people saying that it's not practical because of the numerous combinations. While I understand the argument, you don't need all combinations to have an effective program. I would guess that 80% of the sizes probably are within C to EE. If they stock the major sizes and hit 80% of the customers, they'll improve customer experience vastly. I would even extend the idea for creating a "bank" where they can mail these trials to customers who can't visit the stores. I bet this investment can pay for itself for generating more sales. But that is the problem with Alden, they can sell everything they build and them some - with no advertisement, lousy turnaround times, and non-existent customer service (from the factory). So in other words, they act like a monopoly. And unless they have somebody breathing down their necks, JS, I don't think your innovative idea would make anyone in Middleborough exited.Re: the conversation about trying on Aldens. Why don't stores just reserve a few pairs in every size and last for try ons? It seems like it would cure a lot of discord among retailers. I'm surprised some of the more progressive stores like Leffot and Epaulet haven't thought of something like this.
ascher07, youre a uk10.5 in the simpson but a tts us12d? if i understand everything correctly, something is off
for reference, im 11.5 in simpson, us12e in leydon, tts us12D
After one immensely painful 3 mile walk through New Orleans in summer, the 10.5 Simpson last fits great.
