Quote: I like your throwback nst's MrDV. The purple in your socks makes your feet look like your wearing two very stylish eggplants. Love the colour on the shoes. Was it close to the original after restoration? Any other info on them would be a bonus. Thanks.

"Johnniegold: Black Straight Tip Blucher Oxford. These are due for a restoration soon. Gotta love black shell."

+1 for black shell.

I cant believe there was an 8.5D Grant #8 boot around and I missed out on it. Nice score indeed!

Context have a preorder up for #8 Tankers with Commando. Very nice looking.

I've never gone the pre-order route, but I've been looking into them more and more as I hear about them from this community. This is the first time I've seen where the entire price is expected up front. Is that normal for Alden pre-orders?

Sorry rydenfan! I can't believe I actually got them. I am usually a day late and a dollar short on this stuff.

At some places it is. Leffot just opened up a #8 Tanker pre-order as well. 20% due up front.

A real gentleman's pair of shoes. Very nice sir.

Thanks. I think the Alden Straight Tip (particularly in black shell) is more lawyerly than the Alden Attorney shoe. Just my .02 of course.

The pic doesn't indicate a need.  Lovely straight tips J-gold!

Thanks RTP. Because of my pitiful photography skills, you don't really notice the excessive wear around the toe area.

Gentlemen, I need your help. Can you share your experiences with wearing a full-eyelet (no speed laces) cordovan boot to work (office/professional job). Does the full lace-up get a bit fatiguing on the shins after several hours? Comparisons to a cordovan chukka or an Indy would be helpful, since that's all I have experience with in terms of Aldens. (FYI: contemplating a cap toe purchase, to be specific).

I'm also interested in hearing if you think having a chukka and a cap toe boot in the same color cordovan has felt a bit redundant/too similar, and perhaps would avoid it if you could do it all over again.

P.S. I recognize these would be very personal/idiosyncratic experiences, but I'm interested nonetheless. Thanks!

And if they are willing to add a special size for you that isn't part of the typical pre-order (like a "C" width) you might need to pay 100% up front.

Good point. I believe that is Leffot's policy.

Great looking pair of boots, Sir. Looks highly versatile. I've always wondered about the Grant last but never had an opportunity to try it.

I tried a pair of NSTs on the grant and a George boot on plaza this summer at Alden on Madison and Leffot.  Both lasts were great!  I hope to have one of each down the road.

Thanks RTP. I like the look of the Barrie, but being a C width, I find myself in between the typical sizing of 1/2 size down and a full size down. I'm facinated by the Grant because it's supposedly a TTS fit. Also, I've read that some people find it a bit narrow - which, for me, could be great.

Like the red bottom of a baboon, it's the red sole of this snuff suede LHS that makes it particularly desirable and attractive.
