eBay proved just as laughable. People seemed to think $225 was about right. Either completely clueless or very cynically hoping that I failed to apply a suitable minimum offer threshold. Anyway, worst that can happen is that I wear them, as I said.

Agreed. There were many disappointed SF members fishing for my Aldens. They didn't seem to understand that I'm just as happy to keep them. Aldens are always welcome in my closet. Best of luck.

A lot of good color 8 recently. A good side effect of the rare cordovan shortage is that people are appreciating black and especially color 8 cordovan again.

If I want to get a pair of PTB primarily to wear with chinos and wool slacks would color #8 or cigar be better? I rarely wear suits and these would be worn only for business casual. At this point the only Aldens I have are longwings in calf and looking to start a small collection.

a hefty consensus on here would say eight; I say cigar, as I prefer my olive brown tones out of the box, not ten years down the road.

I'd say pick the one you lust after most, since cigar and #8 would work equally well IMO for your stated uses. Cigar with an antique edge can't be dressed up quite as easily as #8, but it would be just fine for business casual.
