Looking for some advice. If you had the choice between a Ravello NST boot on the Aberdeen last or a Ravello NST shoe on the same last which one would you pick. Thanks in advance.

After checking the UPS app nearly every 30 minutes since my J. Crew order was processed on Monday, I see that my new Flex-Toe Suede Chukkas are finally en route. Expected to arrive on Friday, at the office, of course. Need a Mac method break in and some wearing before they are revealed to the wife, so I can truthfully say "oh, these? I got them a while ago!"

I'm looking to pick up my first pair of shell Aldens and was eyeing the antique edge #8 PTBs from the Bureau Belfast for a little while but have decided to go in the opposite direction color-wise if it exists. Are any of you aware of a retailer who stocks a 990 with a black welt stitch rather than the tan one found on most? I've haven't had much luck searching the thread and many retailer websites have very low res pictures that make it difficult to tell. I do realize I could call them myself to ask but if somebody here knows that would certainly make it a lot easier.

Pre-ordered the Alden X J Crew waxed longwing (CXL) and it finally arrived today. Unfortunately it came with a cut in the right shoe near the ankle...

...

I don't think that cut would be a deal breaker for me. You may want to keep them as long as you're ok with them not being the advertised cxl.

not even in black shell? what does "none available" even mean? alden has a 1 year cigar shortage, vass has a 1 year cognac shell shortage, horween factory appears to be short on even the most uninspired shell color, black. All this while Carmina continues to roll out shell shoes like it was going out of style:

Cognac Boot, Cognac Wingtip, Dark Cognac Boot, Dark Cognac Wingtip, Cognac PTB, Dark Cognac PTB, Saddle shell Boot, Saddle shell ptb, wingtip, burgundy shell, ruby shell, navy shell, black shell, green shell. loafer, punchcap, monkstrap, jodhpur, all in shell, all in a 2 month turnaround

why the hell is Alden always short on shell?

It means they dont have any to sell me . Didn't ask about black . They have chips only which are essentially scraps . Im making wallets so they will actually work for me but this is the first time I've ever been unable to buy any shells
