I just bought some snuff suede PTB's from Epualet and sprayed them with AE waterproofer. They seem to have lost a lot of that rich texture they had before I sprayed them. I've brushed them for a while after they dried, but it's just not the same. Any advice?

did you spray it on too heavy perhaps? i think you are only supposed to spray a light coat on.

also, there should not be a reason to brush the suede at all when it's new and not dirty.

Maybe I went to heavy. I brushed it the day after I sprayed them because the nap was completely flat. Rubbing my finger on the shoe, the color would not change at all. After a bit of brushing, the texture came back, but not as rich as when they were unsprayed.

sounds like you went too heavy with the spray or something.

i wouldn't worry about it and just wear the heck out of them. the suede would not look good as new for long anyway. ;)

Going to add quite a few more calfskin. I think they are underrated.

The whole can on 2 pairs. Its small for an aerosol can, but I understand what you are saying. It dried quick (almost instantly) compared to other suede protectants that I have used, so I just kept on applying. Hopefully they are thoroughly protected from my generous application.

At the same time, I did it outside, so a lot of it might have gotten taken away with the wind.

Anyway, yes, the whole can, no adverse effects.

I agree that the AE spray runs out faster than I expected. I make one or two quick passes with the spray from about 8 inches to a foot away.

I got caught in heavy rain the other day in some suede chukkas, and the water beaded up nicely.

No worries. I put on an even coat. Let t dry. Then apply again. Seems to be sufficient as water beads up nicely on the of chance I get caught in the rain . . .
