I think maybe this should be the question: if you had to do it over again, which Alden shoe would be your first?

Might anyone be able to point me in the direction of a US stockist with a snuff suede dover (barrie) in size 8d?

Theres plaza lasted Ravello Captoe boots on eBay for 1600. Sheesh.

Anyone know where they are from? They gotta be recent. I thought I remember seeing them on here.

Yea, me too. Scored the indy off jcrew for around $350 with a code. All down hill from there....

My first pair of chamois arrived this morning, and there's a stain on the toe area (looks worse in person, and is visible from eye to floor level) . For those that have chamois, is this something that will be less noticeable as the material around it ages, or should I be concerned?

Very nice! I long for a pair of these.

Anyone else see the $4500 ravello day trippers on bay? Lol... Plus $50 postage. Ridiculous

These just arrived. They're exactly what I was looking for - something that looked a bit more rugged that I could use in bad weather. The kudu on here is different (in a good way) from the kudu I've seen on Aldens before. It looks and feels almost like regular leather and not like the kudu you find on the chukkas they sell with the lug soles.

For first Aldens I always suggest the 975.  If shell is too expensive I recommend the LWB in tan/cognac/waxed tobacco calf.  My New Year's resolution is to wear my 990 more often.  It has an unusual ruby red tone to it...

Alden makes this shoe for BB.  It had the exposed eyelets that are not present with the stock model (see below).  You can call Alden NY, SF, or DC to pick up their standard version.

I think it's a mistake.  I don't think they are plaza lasted.  They look like the standard grant-lasted day trippers
