Same here. Mine's more of a 'don't ask, don't tell' type deal. Or to be more accurate, 'she asks, and I try to skirt the subject and try to change topics.

My wife is happy that I take care of my shoes and other things so she doesn't care about that. She does ridicule me for having so many shoe horns in the house (I have 2 decent ones and then all the freebie plastic ones Alden gives you).

I would like to offer my humble advice for how to balance your passion for Alden's and your passion for pleasing your wives.

DISCLAIMER:  I am by no means an expert....I am just sharing what has worked for me.

I have found that my wife appreciates and even encourages some of my Alden and other shoe purchases when I get her involved with my hobby.

She likes to hear me talk about the ins and outs of shoe-making, the difference between the makers and the "exotic-ness" of certain types of cordovan.

And she loves to be involved, she likes it when I shine my shoes and my boys are crowded around me wanting to "help" Daddy shine his Alden's.

This is the best way to balance your enjoyment of Alden's and making your wife happy.  Make her feel a part of your passion.

EXAMPLE:  I went to pull the trigger recently on a new pair of Day-Trippers and when I told my wife about them she rolled her eyes and said; "I thought you were done for awhile....."  And then I said; "They're Ravello...."  And she smiled big and said;  "Oh, let me see them...."

Ravello is her favorite cordo shade........

Does anyone have any tips on where I could find a cigar or ravello shell plain-toe or captoe boot in 2015? I know cigar can be tough to come by, but if anyone knows of any pre-orders or even stores it would be worth inquiring with, I'd appreciate it. Also willing to consider second-hand. Ideally looking for plaza, but would do barrie or grant, too. I'm a 10.5D TTS, 10D barrie.

Though my wife may not appreciate mens footwear, she makes one hell of an authentic pho stock (she's Cambodian). I've had lots of pho in lots of places, but none better than hers!

For the Cap Toe Boots, contact Kathy at Alden DC. She makes the rainbow sans Whiskey on the Grant Last with Speed Hooks and a Commando sole.

I don't know of (or care about) any Plain Toe Boots in those colors.

Ahh so sorry Guys for the misinformation ... Thanks Mike for straightening this out.
So has anyone actually had B Nelson successfully pull this off?

Thanks!  I'll have to check it out next time.  Pho is a favorite of mine when it gets really cold and wet outside.
